Mad River Howler for sale - SOLD 6/23/10 to James Butler

Post by Eric Esche » Sat Apr 24, 2010 8:55 pm

Red Royalex Mad River Howler tandem canoe for sale.

15' long x 28" wide

14" of asymetric Rocker

Flared bow for drier runs than the Mad River ME

Flat planing bottom

2 Microcell saddles

2" wide padded Northwoods straps (new) with new anchors (one position adjustable)

thick foam knee and shin pads glued in both positions

2 addtional 4" wide oar thwarts installed

2 new yellow nylon float bags (bow/stern)

Stainless steel Eyelets for float bag lash in with red prussic cord

Boat paddled less than a dozen times since new (1995?)

four to six coats of tung oil applied summer 2009 to gunnels and thwarts.

Boat can spin on a dime and give you change. If it was a horse, I'd say it was fast twitch responsive. I liked it.

Selling due to neck and knee problems. Knee might get better, neck isn't, and Susan says to sell it if it isn't going to be used.

$700. firm. You will not find one in better shape. Was going to bring to canoe school to sell and let folks try it out, but family scheduling conflict may not permit me to go. Will try to send it down with somebody if I can not go.

Paddle it before you buy it.

See edit below:

Howler is still for sale. NOT - IT HAS BEEN SOLD

Had some interest at Whitewater school, but was not the boat that some folks that called had hoped for, who were looking for something more stable or for 3 people for fishing.

Agressive tandem crews are welcome to come try it out as it is ready to go with the outfitting.

Eric

Sold to James Butler of Fayetteville who I think will appreciate it. Sorry to see it go, but not getting a new neck and it hurt me too much to paddle it.

Good luck James and I hope to get to see you paddle it some day.
