Concerning the West Fork of the White, be sure to scout the section you want to run as you drive by to set your shuttle (the advantage of it's roadside nature). Currently there are a number of large strainers and rootballs above the Woolsey Bridge due to significant bank erosion, as well as a collapsed privately owned bridge in the river that should be portaged due to the amount of current going down under it....

Josh, I'm keeping an eye on the lee gauge, if it looks like it's gonna go over 4.5 we'll be out there - if not we're looking in the same general area so keep me posted eight71-zero36zero

Word to the wise, the Lee gauge sucks. The correlation is terrible, it's in OK, and if it's going up on the gauge, unless it rained recently, the runs going down. Better to check the precip on the watershed. If it's gotten an inch or more within 24 hours it'll be over 5. Good luck.

Re: saturday paddle NWA
jerm, where do you check that - on the USGS lee page? I tried to read that precipitation link that shelby posted a while back, but it's hard to tell what I'm looking for

There are a couple of ways to do that depending on tools available in the area. Looking at gauges that are close that record precipitation data, such as the Frog Bayou gauge, help give you an idea. The NWS radars also include a feature that allows you to look at 1-Hr Precip and Storm Totals.
http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid= ... 11&loop=no" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Which if you download the drainage basin overlays Fish and a few others created for Google Earth (someone should be able to find the link for you) than you can create KMZ files for Google Earth on the NWS site that take the radar data you want and allow you to overlay that information over the drainages.
Sometimes the radars collect data for a few days so the storm totals are inflated, and sometimes they are reset quickly after a rain (as is the case this morning with the Ft. Smith radar). If you look at the storm total precipitation on the Ft. Smith radar it has been reset and shows zero rainfall totals, while the Little Rock radar (which is not usually as accurate) shows the precipitation totals of the storm, although it fails to cover the areas West of I-540 very well. These are just other ways to limit skunkings, but are not flaw-proof.
That being said, as of around 3:30AM when I last checked Google Earth, Lee Creek drainage had received .6"-1" of rain. The rain started over in that area around 2-3PM yesterday, and had some momentary breaks. I would bet if it is going to be in it will be low and the earlier you go the better it will be, or your chances will be.
Also, I think the Lee Creek gauge updates something like every 3-4 hours. Jeremy is right, the correlation sucks for quick events, but if Lee is already running or it has been raining off and on for a few days the gauge isn't terrible.
I would just check Lee and if it isn't in then head for a Frog Bayou run, or if it is in nab a Lee and Frog run.
