Anybody out there got any experience with this boat? Plastic seems as stout as the plastic in the Savage Skreem. Think it is from sometime around 1995.
Thanks, Eric Esche

Re: New Wave Mongoose
Yup, I had one.
a really nice boat, new wave made them and Jim Snyder was co designer.
I never got my boat performing up to what was expected.
Called New Wave and was told the designer would call me.
Couple days later Jim S called and we had a great discussion about this boat.
First Jim wanted me to give the boat a good work out, at least 20 runs in the boat.
Which by then I had done.
Second and most importantly he told me the Mongoose was designed for the agressive paddler and performed best the faster it went thru the water.
I had noticed this and went back and found the more agressive I got, the better the Mongoose performed.
At some point in time, some one saw the boat, if I remember it was a combo color swirl in white and purple a really nice looking boat, and made me an offer for it.
I did the deal and went looking for another creeker. Not sure if that was the time the Dagger Freefall came out which was a big banana but I ended up with one of those boats for a while, then got the Skreem which for me was a very good creek boat.
Bottom line based on my experience: If you paddle agressively into the gnar, the Mongoose is gonna be a favorite boat.
Seems like there were several other Mongoose Creekers in the area. Maybe Shelby had one and used it quite a bit. maybe he will chime in with more feedback.

Re: New Wave Mongoose
Eric,
I can put my hands on a Mongoose. The owner probably may not get rid of it, but we can use/abuse it as we see fit!
I'll just add to Dave's by saying the boat was an early creeker. It is slim, voluminous, and has an an incredible amount of rocker for this kind of design. Displacement hull, not an edge in sight.
I found it hard to hold a line, and a little iffy due to its slim beam. But hey? That's just me!
On the up? The rocker this boat has makes it very maneuverable on a creek and the beam makes it more so. But you better be ready. It will respond to you, but it will definitely hold you responsible for any mistakes!
Why don't we plan a Run and I'll get it and we can use/abuse it and see what its all about?
