NRS HydroSkin Rocks!

Post by magicmike » Tue Dec 31, 2013 4:23 pm

Tested out my new top base layer today at the ford . Easily replaces 3 or 4 layers of my old synthetics. I'm thinking now about the bottoms under my wetsuit. Then I might not even need a dry suit. This stuff Rocks!-M-

Long sleeve .5 HydroSkin under NRS farmer John, then padding jacket on top. My core now stays plenty warm most days. In an open boat full of water ,my feet and butt still get a little cold, so l'm getting the shorts and socks. That should do the trick most days. I don't think now though that this setup will replace a drysuit on the really cold days. So this Summer a Kokatat will get ordered so I have it for next Winter. -M-

I've been thinking about getting the .5 long sleeve shirt hydroskin for spring/fall paddling. I have a dry top but hate the gasket feel on my neck and wrists.

@Mike - I agree. Bought a NRS HydroSkin 0.5 Jacket from Pack Rat [William]. It is a long sleeve and I wore it over another 0.5 NRS short sleeve. ** LOVE the zipper in the front, so you can cool off a bit if the sun pops out or you end up indoors still geared up. Worth the extra cost. It was great in the cold water at Rockport a few weekends ago. Like you, not sure just how cold this combo will keep me comfortable as the temp drops. I've got some 1.5 Neo pants that are great, but thinking about getting the farmer johns also.
