What do you think about $150? The otter doesn't have a padded seat, nor does it have bungees for strapping gear on an overnighter. A padded seat alone is worth $50.

Nick,

What do you think about $50. They blue isn't my favorite color and the yellow and black paddle clashes with it as well. Anyone paddling this will receive ridicule fore sure so I believe that the massive discount is warranted.

If you can see eye to eye on the drastic price reduction i will be glad to be ridiculed by all who see me in this boat on Richland.

Hey Nick,

I will give you $25 if:

(1) You personally deliver it to my house in Tulsa...

(2) Take me out for dinner....

(3) Have Hunter show me the lines on Richland...

(4) Be at the take-out with a cold  waiting on me....

Is it a deal????

tough crowd!

... I mean an Otter can be paddled down any class I river in Arkansas, is not an uncommon rental boat, etc. If I knew a new rec paddler looking I'd pass this info on.

Here's a possiblity. Some newbie or strictly casual paddler, not knowing about Richland, playboats, creekboats, or whitewater in general might conclude that this is a cheap worthless boat and decide not to buy it when in fact it might be just what they need. Old Town Otter's are great for what they were designed to do. My wife has one that she paddles on the Buffalo, Current, etc. I even got in it and paddled a little bit on the Current this past summer. It's a great inexpensive rec boat.

You may think you're just kiddin, but you may be ruining a sale for Nick.

not trying to criticize, just throwin out some food for thought.

I agree with Randy i had one one of my first Kayaks i learned a lot in it and let my friends use it when i needed someone to go float with me if they didnt have a boat and i missed it when it was gone.
Just point my boat downstream and give me a push

You just never know who might see his post and find the Otter is exactly what they need. I like the 3 Old Town Vapors I bought at OOO this spring, great beginner boats. My son prefers his Old Town Vapor over my Liquid Logic Remix XP10, because of the stability. Sooooo, that Otter may be a great deal for the right person.

The 1st kayak I ever saw was an Otter, the 1st one I owned was an Otter. Same with my wife and sons. For $200 it opened a whole new world to us. My wife still uses it and it's my loaner for friends that want to go exploring.

Ok, wasn't trying to start any argument or discredit the Old Town Otter. I own a Old Town Rush and love it. I enjoy the padded seat and the other differences that separate it from the Otter. Both are great boats. Sorry for the misleading post.
