Never seen this setup before.

Curious, is it intended for rowing or paddle power. I see the paddles are included but is it easy to switch to the oars?

Is there a commercial name I can google or is this a custom setup.

Looks like a very neat rig from the photo.

What a neat boat! I've never seen one of these but I saw some guys with a similar but smaller rig at West Fork one day. It had two pontoons that looked something like sit-on-tops with frame bars between them. It didn't have the center floor, coolers, or raised seating. Looked like crazy fun though! I think it was made by Perception but I can't remember for sure.

After some googling, I found this boat's manufacturer in Carbondale CO.

However, none of the URL's given work

a bunch of fly fishing magazines did write ups on this boat, but none of them had a workable URL to get the complete articles. Just a bit of verbiage and nothing else.

Evidently it was a big deal with a novel concept, but for what ever reason did not make it commercially. My bet is it was a bit ahead of it's time. With all the attention now to kayak fishing, this set up would have to garner a lot of interest.

I did find several photos of the boat and all were set up for rowing with what looked like the nice Down River Equipment seat in the middle. I did see on photo with a fly fishing platform and one of the hip hi curved supports for the standing fisherman to brace against.

Very interesting design, has the potential to be a great one person white water tripper on medium runs (did mention it was for "light WW" and should be a hard to tear up craft.

Seems like way back when maybe in the 80's or 90's the river ranger who I saw several time in Royal Gorge had one of these types of craft. It did not have the coolers etc but looked pretty bomber. I know he seemed perfectly comfortable in it running the Gorge.

That is all I have been able to find out.

I always thought it would be cool to fix a frame for two Blue Hole Canoes, and with a sail, like a catamaran, for use on the lakes, when not using them separately as single canoes on the river. Be careful not to use sail or trolling motor or they will be viewed as a vessel needing registration &taxation.

Best Regards
Jim

Jim,

SOAR has just what you need

http://www.soar1.com/accessories.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and scroll down to the lashing bars section

since the bars just lash down to the SOAR grommet holes, I bet adapting them to blue hole crossbars would be easy to work out

The more I see of these SOAR boats, the more I like them

You might be able to buy this one real cheap. And its in your neck of the wood. It has numbers that don't run out for 2 more years. You should jump on it while you can.

I have seen it in action on 3 different Buffalo trips. Those pilots/paddlers were having a ball let me tell ya. You need a drift shute to slow you down when the water is up and 2 strong Pilot/Paddlers when the water is low. :poke:

Greetings:

The boat looks a bit like a Perception Revolution, although some of the hardware looks to be add-ons.

See:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJFSGlZt8KE

Hard to say: I've never seen one of these in the flesh (plastic?).
