Ouachita April 1 ?

Post by Soonerfan85 » Fri Mar 31, 2017 10:56 am

Anyone interested ?

My son and I are going up to put in at Ouachita River Haven Resort and take out at the Dragover take out, about 9 miles. Spoke with Jan at ORHR and she said water should be at 4+ feet tomorrow. Never been on the Ouachita as we usually run the Big Piney or Mulberry, but don't have time for that this weekend. I paddle an Old Town Heron and he has a LL Remix XP10. We'll be driving up from El Dorado early tomorrow and hope to put in around 10am as we need to be back for my grandson's first t-ball game at 3:30. From what I have read, the Ouachita above Dragover looks like a good run. Jan said it should take less than 2 hours tomorrow with current river flow at 1300 cfs. Not expecting anything like the Piney at 4+ feet, just want to get on the water. All welcome to join us and any information appreciated.

David

Well dang. Gonna have to cancel our trip. Hate to see good water levels go to waste.

Nice little run and the banks should be really pretty right now. You'll have a great time!
You come too.

David,

I'm also in El Do. Hit me up sometime. I paddle the Dragover section a good bit and the Caddo as well. In fact, I'm probably headed to the Caddo tomorrow. It's almost an hour closer than the DO section of the Ouachita. Be good to connect with some other South AR paddlers. There's a few of us in El Do.

Chris

What time are you planning to hit the water on the Caddo tomorrow? My son can't go but I'd like to take his kayak and try it out. BTW, are you the Chris Crawford that works at Chemtura?

I used to work at Chemtura. Left there back in June 2014. Work at Cross Oil (Martin Operating Partnership) now. Jim, trip leader was looking at meeting up under the bridge in Glenwwod between 11:00 and 11:30. I'll leave here around 9:00.

I'm a member of Malloy's. Think I know you from there. Anyway, I'm 90% certain I'll be there tomorrow. Is there just one bridge in Glenwood?
