Is Dragover doable at 2.5 ft?

Post by Shell » Tue Jun 28, 2016 10:04 am

The AW.Org site recommends between 3 and 5 but I was wondering if 2.5 is enough for a slow bumpy float in my rec kayak? Thinking about slathering the sunblock and hitting it this afternoon with my 5 year old son. If it would be more a hike than a float then I will pass.
Thanks for the info!

Hey Shell,

Dragover is doable @ 2.5ft. You should be able to run everything without any dragging if you pick your lines.

Best Regards
Jim

Thanks for the info Mr. Krueger! Had to turn around when I was halfway there today due to a family emergency, I will make it out there later this week.

You're welcome Shell, I'm just sorry for any emergency that turned you around, I hope all is well. If you do decide to go back later in the week, it may still be runnable since we are getting some spotty showers. I have floated this section down to 1.50'ft., but decided that was entirely too low. The current level is at 2.45ft., 2.30ft would probably be my cut-off now ;)

Best Regards
Jim
