Hey!

First, an item of news: Judy and Wayne have sold Boiling Springs Resort to a couple from the Fort Worth area and will be closing the real estate transaction in December. The good part of this is that the new owners will give us the same arrangement and prices on cabins as we had last year.

So, once again, we'll be basing out of Boiling Springs Resort and paddling many of the fine rivers in Southern MO and Northern AR. Intermediate paddling skills required. Camping and cabins available at winter rates at the resort.

By paddler request, we have moved the dates to the last two weeks in March to get, perhaps, a bit warmer weather than in the past.

Details:

March 17 - March 31, 2016
Basing out of Boiling Springs Resort near Licking, MO

Rivers likely to be paddled:
Big Piney River, MO
Current River, MO
Little Piney River, MO
Little Piney Creek, MO
Jacks Fork River, MO
Norfork River, MO
Sugar and Indian Creeks, MO
Spring River, AR
Eleven Point River, MO
Bryant Creek,, MO
...and others depending on water levels.

Please call or email if you'd like to join in.

Glad to see the Donaldsons are still doing their thing. I may have clearance from the doc to paddle by then. Would love to see y'all.

Al, man thanks for setting up and your leadership on this event.

I recently discovered just how neat the MO streams you listed are to canoe. And, they can be enjoyed most any time.

Like Mr Deuce allowed, I hope to get up there myself for a few days fun with you guys. :canoe:

Dave, Luke, Diane and Crane:

Would love to get you folks up to join all of our Yankee paddlers. We'll see how the water levels and weather are doing as the time gets closer, and I'll post here to let folks know.

Thanks for considering our little enterprise!

I'll be checking on on this too. Have made some of the fall trips to MO but not the spring ones.

When you say intermediate paddling skills required, what do you mean? I've paddled Hiwasse, Nantahala (did not do Lesser Wesser), Mulberry, Cadron Creek, Emory Caddo with little/no problems. Still do not have a roll yet. Is that a problem? I am interested in doing a portion of this if I do not go to Florida & paddle with Manatees. Thanks!

Jill:

Thanks for asking (so few folks actually pay attention to skill levels.) Sounds to me as though you've accumulated the right set of skills for these streams. For a bit more info, see: http://www.iowapaddling.org/BHC/Padddle ... atings.htm

Let me know via email if you decide to join in the fun.

Mark:

Too bad, guy! I'm still hanging on to the fine "Iowa Made" Cedar kayak paddle that has Jack's name on it.

Regards,

al

Jilly, you definitely have more than adequate skills for anything in Missouri, but the problem is we don't allow blondes. :poke2:

Folks:

31 paddlers are planning on attending so far , although not all at one time (thank goodness.)

Ana and I will be down to Boiling Springs this week to start checking out the accesses and river conditions (big floods in the area this winter.)

Cheers!
