I have never paddled this river and am looking for suggestions for best times and sections (what class I/II?) to paddle. Is it only a spring/early summer river?

Thanks,

Lots of info here - kingsriveroutfitters.com
The section from Marble to Rockhouse is my favorite. The bluff on the home page of the website is on that section.

Missed this river last year, too much whitewater. Usually hit it several time each year as it is one of my favorites. Solid class I current with class II/II+ strainers around most corners. Boat control is advised just to keep you out of the trees. Don't know why there are always so many trees on the Kings.

As Nathan stated, Marble to Marshall/Rockhouse is the best. One mandatory portage and another one if the water is low. I use the Ponca low water bridge gauge on the Buffalo to see if it is flowing. If the Ponca section on the Buffalo is flowing most likely Marble section on the Kings is going. You can always call Ernie at KRO to check as well.

Definitely one of the gems in NWA.

Also a fat sassy bronzeback or two in the King's. King's River Outfitters provides camping on the river.

My guess; the 2009 ice storm. The same reason that the Illinois has so many trees between chamber and the kayak park.
The swath of destruction was along that Latitude.

Here I am thinking fluvial geomorphology, and you introduce a perfectly rational explanation.
