Grassy Lake Wetland Tour #3 2/21/15

Post by DeBo » Tue Feb 03, 2015 9:16 am

The Grassy Lake Tour had to be rescheduled due to a conflict with the ACC board meeting. I am posting early in hopes of getting the word out to everyone.

Grassy lake was opened as an Arkansas Water Trail last year. It is an approximately 4 mile loop trail through a Cypress Tupelo wetland. It is an incredible wildlife viewing area and very close to Little Rock.

We will meet at the Exxon station at the I40 exit in Mayflower at 10:00am. Those who already know where the put in is, can meet us there. I hope to see a good group on Feb. 28

I have decided to reschedule this trip one more time. Winter weather has been uncooperative so far this year for our trips. Saturday is predicted to be bitterly cold and windy. We will try again on Saturday March 21. Hopefully we will get some nice spring weather when Grassy Lake will be at it's best.

Thank you Debbie. Was going to try to make this trip even with the cold weather. Wasn't sure it would work to start a small fire in my kayak. Think it will be much more enjoyable with better weather. I talked to Al Gore and he said the global warming will kick back in during March. Yeah!

Yes, the trip is still on for Sat. 21. We will meet at the Exxon station at the I40 exit in Mayflower at 10:00am. Those who already know where the put in is, can meet us there if they prefer. Looking forward to it!

Good trip at Grassy Lake. We had a group of 10 boats who paddled the loop counter clockwise. We paddled the spur trail and went on out to the levee where Cowper had the motorboat removing tornado debris from the lake. The we took the spur trail back and finished the loop. Very nice day with a great group of folks.

My first time on Grassy Lake. I was really impressed by this water trail. Definitely will go back in the spring when things are a little greener. Should be even better. Highly recommend this float. And only 20 minutes or so from Little Rock. What a deal. Thanks for everyone involved in marking these trails. Awesome idea. Not a lot of wild life this trip. Might have had something to do with the giant heap of floating scrap metal that was creeping through the swamp.

Nice to meet the people in the Conway float club.

I'm sorry! I posted the wrong date on this trip. It was 3/21 not the 28th. The Bayou Deview trip was the 28th.
