general questions from new member

Post by marksteele » Tue Jun 19, 2018 12:06 pm

Hello my name is mark i just recently joined and was browsing the website and had a few questions to help get me started.
I was looking for info on the buffalo, spring, white, strawberry and eleven point rivers : like maps, put in and take out points, local rentals and shuttles and rates and floatable river levels/seasons and couldn't find much on these. but i'm new and sure i just don't know what to click on. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks mark

One of the most comprehensive listings is from American Whitewater: https://www.americanwhitewater.org/cont ... /state/AR/
Another good one is the Ozark Creek information summary: http://www.ozarkpages.com/cgi-bin/stages.pl?ST=level

Both of these may be lacking info on "easier" streams like the Strawberry. Both of these sometimes have old information about what the best floating levels are, because sometimes USGS changes the gauge calibration points.

Easy, including a number of flatwater floats are listed here:
https://www.agfc.com/en/explore-outdoor ... er-trails/

Then there's the "Arkansas Floaters Kit", which seems to be listed here:
https://www.arkansas.com/outdoors/water ... waterways/

I would say for any of these, use it only as a starting point for further research by googling the stream you get interested in, and by asking questions here and/or on our ACC Facebook page. These collections of guides are notorious for having undiscovered errors, making easy streams sound hard, making hard streams sound easy, and so on.
