Post by FlapjackJr » Tue Apr 03, 2018 8:10 pm

Next Meeting: Monday, April 30, 2018 at 6:45pm at Foghorns by Baum Stadium. We will be nominating for officer positions for the next year, be there or be square!

-------------------

We have 2 scholarships that are looking for recipients. One is for Whitewater School and one is for River School. If you or someone you know is a first time attendee and deserving/in need of some financial assistance please nominate them and provide a blurb about why they should receive the scholarship. The scholarship will reimburse the paddler for the early school registration cost and 1 year membership to Arkansas Canoe Club - NW Chapter, valued at $105.

-------------------

New stickers! All NW chapter members can get 2 free stickers, pick up in person at the meeting :)

Our friends at the Mulberry River Society want ACC members to save the date, Friday, April 20th 2018 for a positive family oriented event on the Mulberry River with special guest, Smokey the Bear. Join the MRS for a special Earth Day Celebration and Flotilla honoring the Mulberry River Society.

The Forest Service has nominated the MRS for the National Enduring Volunteer Service Award in recognition of their 27 years of Annual River Cleanups and the restoration of two Mulberry River Access points: High Bank and Indian Creek. The restoration of these access points is the result of a collaborative effort between MRS volunteers, the USFS, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and the Arkansas Canoe Club. In addition to Smokey the Bear and US Forest Service Officials, Local, State and Federal Officials will be in attendance for the 50th Anniversary of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act along with friends and sponsors to “Make a Splash” on the Mulberry River.

The MRS is asking ACC members to help with:
Serving as raft guides for the flotilla
Logistics for private parties wanting to participate in the Flotilla
Logistics - helping folks get on the river SAFELY
ACC Members on the river in their own boats to help as River Guides
Safety Checkpoints on the rapids

Have a great day!
