Hi. I am doing some work for the City of Siloam Springs planning for future maintenance at the whitewater park. I was wondering if you all could share some information with me regarding paddling on the Illinois River in the vicinity of Siloam Springs. Specifically:
Do you ever paddle sections above and below the park and use the park as either a take out or put-in?
Thanks! Mike

Re: Illinois River
Hey Mike,
I've certainly used the park as a put-in and take-out. I have put on at Hwy 412 and taken out at the park. I have put on at Chamber Springs and taken off at the park, and I have put in at the park and taken out at Hwy 59 (AR).
Are you looking for information about those runs, or are you just questioning whether the park is used for not only a park-n-play but also river access?

I say, and I intend it emphatically, let the river be.

Re: Illinois River
Been using the Ford for takeout and put in for years. The section from Chamber Springs to the Ford is a great recreational run with beautiful bluffs and pools to swim in. The section from the Ford to Hwy. 59 is relatively short so we float that less frequently.
Re: Illinois River
And of course there is the livery service from
Hwy. 59 campground that uses the bridge just
above the park for it's put in.
