RBF, Minus One - R.I.P. Kenny Pearson (updated)

Post by davidbob » Sun Nov 22, 2015 10:14 am

Our hearts are breaking
Whence goeth the RBF?
R.I.P. Kenny Peerson (1957-2015)

The Poonanny Run will never be the same.

UPDATE: The "service" will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N 12th St, Fort Smith. There will be a visitation afterward.

As Jungle Boater mentions below, there will be a "spreading the ashes" event on the Mulberry at a later date. Hopefully the plan for a headstone next/close to Jimmy at Campbell's Cemetery will work out too.

In the mere twenty years I have been a member of the canoe club, I have heard about, or often just seen enjoyable posts from many great folks I never chanced to meet. My condolences from down Caddo way, to friends and family.

Sincerely
Jim

"Wonder why it is that I love the river
Wonder why it is that I love to sing
Seems like if I could understand the river
I could understand most anything
I wonder why the time goes by so fast
When the trip is slow
Headin' down out of the mystery above
Headin' down into the mystery below"
John Hartford

God's speed Kennypuss. I love you...

Tentative plans are for a memorial service at Edwards Funeral Home either this Friday or Saturday. At a later date his ashes will be sent down the Mulberry. Linda is looking to place a marker at Campbell Cemetery next to Jimmy Sartin. CC ought to be rocking when those two get back together!

Kenny will be missed.
The first time I met Kenny he was sitting on a log in front of Sacs on the Mulberry eating a bologna sandwich. He was in his element and was calmer than a Hindu cow. His life jacket was sun faded and his river clothes were well worn. Even a rookie like me knew he had been here before. Years later we argued over the Iraq war, he was right I was wrong. Kenny is missed.

Kenny was a great guy. ..and a ton of laughs on the trips I got to take with him. I'm priveledged that I got to share some river time with him. He will definitely leave a fond shadow of memories in many hearts.
