Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue Course Aug 15-16

Post by OzarkTom » Mon Jul 13, 2015 5:07 pm

We are offering a Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue course at Rockport, on the Ouachita River, Aug. 15-16.

We will be teaching the latest and most up to date techniques for dealing with entrapments, pinned craft, swimmers who are in danger of flush drowning and working on awesome ways of using your rescue PFD for self rescue and the rescue of others! The L-4 course is designed as an all in one program, where we start with the absolute basics and build from there. Wading, Swimming, Rope Throwing and numerous other great topics are all part of this two day intensive.

Our courses bring you the opportunity to learn from highly experienced instructors that paddle and teach internationally, and we focus on what you actually need to know... NO FLUFF, just hands on learning at it's finest.

Why is it worth the drive to Malvern/Rockport? In one word, WATER! (and lots of it!!) We love using this site because it enables us to teach in realistic conditions. We base at "Porter Fields" which is on the river right side of the Rockport Ledge. By learning these skills in an actual whitewater environment, you can be confident that they will work for you when you actually need them.

The cost for this course is 100.00 Lodging will be at Camp Couchdale FFA camp which is several miles form the river site and will be 20.00 per night per person for the air conditioned lodge. Normally we camp at Porterfields but there is an annual Motorcycle Rally that uses the same camp area, so we will base at Couchdale instead.
