Future Olympic hopefuls sponsorship opportunity

Post by 737driver » Mon May 18, 2015 5:32 pm

8 teenage kayakers from the ACC team are looking for sponsorship to go to the 2015 NOC Jr. Whitewater Olympics in July. These teenagers will compete against kids from all over the country in slalom, freestyle, and downriver kayaking. Any amount will help, but a donation of $100 or more will get your name or business logo on a competing boat and one free individual certificate for each $100 for a swiftwater rescue course from Steep Creek Rescue.

Not sure if you saw the FB comment but we're in for a sponsorship. Go Baron!

Have you asked the $100k ACC Board about this?

Well, I'm not sure how interested the club is on spending any of the 100k for this. It hasn't seemed to gain much interest or movement. That's really a shame, because the young ones are the future of this club and this could really attract future kids to this club of we could make it a yearly event. I need some more voices if anyone thinks it's a good idea.

I most certainly agree....kids are our most valuable resource they deserve to be invested in,our future depends on it. I definitely think as a club we should sponsor them!

A proposal was brought to the board on May 27th and the overall response from the board was very positive. We asked a few questions and had a few suggestions. A revised proposal was supposed to be in the works as of over two weeks ago. I believe if the board is asked to vote it would very likely be a positive outcome. The board is tasked with being thoughtful stewards of the club's funds and I believe they are doing so, but they very much wanted to support this.
