I'm looking to vacation in south Louisiana first week in June and needing info on places to rv and kayak bayou's. Also looking for some great creole eating. Never been to area and would like some personal preferences. Thanks for any help.

Check the state park location map for LA. Many of the state parks close to the coast south of Layfayette have designated paddling trails on slow moving rivers or bayous. Facilities are generally good with elect, showers, and wi-fi. We've stayed at and paddled at Palmetto Island, Tickfaw, and Lake Fausse Pointe. Bogue Chitto, Sam Houston Jones, and Cypremort Point have options as well, I think. Good place to get your Cajun fix. Be sure to eat at Shucks restaurant for seafood and crayfish in Abbeville.

I'd start here:

Bayou Coast Kayak Club is a great forum and very friendly - ask away

Pack and Paddle post TR's, good for ideas.

If you can go in April here is a 4 day trip...if not it's still a good resource with pictures and some access points.

I prefer the marsh and always go to Grand Isle, LA. Posted several TR's on my blog. Just 1 of many:

Hope that helps.
