Christmas Eagle

On Christmas Day, Our Group encountered a sick Bald Eagle.
We thought it had a fish in the water.
Magicmike wanting better pictures,so he kept creeping closer and closer until we realized something was wrong. We inspected the bird as much as we could before leaving because of lack of daylight. That night I posted to the AGFC the info and pictures that Mike took. Next day Clay Cahoon seeing the pictures contacted HAWKS. The bird was found and picked up. It was found to have lead poisoning. Now I know he doesn't care about credit. But I can't tag him in facebook, or share something to his time line. I want to let everyone know that Mike started the ball rolling on this by getting out his canoe and taking pictures of the bird.   So I'll give him the credit here.
My Favorite River is the one that I'm paddling.

Cory - I think the credit for the good outcome is all you. I sure didn't know what to do other than take pictures. Thanks for getting the experts involved. I've been worried about our little friend. Now I can sleep a little better, knowing she's in good hands. -M-

Clay,

I am not familiar with that rescue outfit.

Do you have contact information so we can get a update on that bird's condition and maybe make some contributions.

The paddle group, your and their fast action might save this bird. They deserve our help to keep them going.

I'm sending a donation next week. I've got our buddy framed in my living room as a reminder of the awesome power of nature and randomness.

This entire event could not be more in the spirit of Christmas.

You guys not only did the right thing and rescued a fellow river traveler,
you gave all of us our "Christmas Eagle" to take care of.

Very proud of you gents and what you did on Christmas Day 2014.

How very sad that she passed away. Everybody did everything they could. This event has made me more aware of the fragility of life and the warmth that such close encounters brings to all of us.
