Don't know, wasn't there, but I'm guessing it is just a marketing attempt to de-emphasize swimming (I guess open boaters could take that as a poke but that wasn't my original intent), tubing, wading, fishing, and the other activities that were not really design objectives for the park, and that have led to some of the discussions about safety of non-PFD wearing users. Putting some of the "equipment" into the name sort of makes the point, this is not just the ole swimming hole any more.

Times are slow and boaters need something to post or at least my opinion.

Siloam Springs and WalMart have given us boaters a first class water park, what they elect to call it does not matter.

But, it is fun to read all these posts. :hammer2:

Yep, I was just having fun. I don't care what they call it. It will always be the The Ford to me.

What are the ideal levels for play boating?

And what are the ideal levels for SUPing?

And any guesses of what time of year is best for catching water levels?

Thanks for any info.

I have most fun out there between 2.6 and 3.7. Your milage may vary. Above 3.8 or so the water is big brown and coming over the rocks meant to channel the water over the features. Below 2.6 it's still fun if you aren't driving very far. There is a group going tonight. I believe Rob is one of them, he will be able to comment on the SUP thing.-M-

Yep we are just having a little fun. It has always been open boaters vs. decked boaters. You know the OLD saying "twice the paddle haft the man". Funny I NEVER thought that when one of yakers were pulling my hind end out of the water.

I played at the Ford last Sunday the level was 2.31 I still had fun. Of course that would depend on if you were a class 4/5 boater. They might be board with that level. This time of year it is wonderful just to have moving water to put my paddle in. Again I LOVE it!! How lucky are we??

Just trying to "Save the Lost". Come to the dark side my kayak brothers. As a reformed kayaker myself, I know I have way more fun on way less gnar in an openboat.-M-

That "canoe" you paddle is about a close to a kayak as you can get. I'm not sure if you're reformed or just in denial. :poke2:

It's the single blade, not the boat that makes the real difference. C1 guys will tell you that. I'm gonna shake my pom - poms for single blades 'til they come back to the fore. It might take forever, but I'll keep shaking. And swimming. -M- :canoe:
