Deliverance - 40 Years Later

Good article. Movie still gives me the creeps! If you happen to be in No. GA this weekend, might be fun to take in some of the activities.

Thanks for the clip. Good to see Payson doing so well and still on the water. Those were some good times for those of us who paddled the Chattooga back then. Still miss it as it was my "backyard" stream from 1972 to 1986 while going to Georgia Tech, and then living in Clayton and Rabun Gap from 1977 to 1988.

Eric may remember the details of the following better than I can.

Seems like after the Movie came out there was some sort of brawl at Woodall Shoals area.

At the time Woodall was a popular spot to picnic and swim in hot summer weekends.

Story I remember is a group of (what the newspaper described as drunk locals) attacked others who were picnicking in the area. Bunches of folks injured as the brawl went on for several hours until the Sheriff and his deputy's got word and arrived.

Big news story in the Atlanta newspapers and did not do much to help the bad press the movie put out on the area.
