ACC Winter Board Meeting Rescheduled to Feb 18-20

Post by OzarkTom » Mon Dec 20, 2010 8:14 am

Hi Folks!

I'd like to welcome all our membership as always to come out for our annual Winter Board meeting. The main meeting will be Saturday evening at 7pm immediately following the potluck dinner which will begin at 6pm.

It will be held again this year at the Buffalo Lodge just past the Kyle's landing / Camp Orr turn off outside of Jasper. Here is a link to the location, http://www.ozarkcabins.com/buffalolodge/#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The cost to spend the night is dependent on the number of folks that come out but is normally around 25.00 per adult per night (no charge for kids under the age of 18). The Buffalo Lodge and bunkrooms can sleep up to 35 people so space is not an issue. Check out the above website for the answers to any facility questions. As before, if you are just coming for the meeting/potluck and not spending the night there is no fee.

The goal for this weekend is to have everyone be able to spend a weekend with the primary focus being the coming year for the ACC. This is the planning weekend for Canoe School as well as many other club functions. We want as many members to attend as possible, as your input on how your club functions is critical to our success and this is the place to have your voice heard by all.

As part of the cost, we will provide breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday. Everyone is on their own for Friday dinner, and Saturday lunch.
Saturday evening is the Potluck, please be sure to bring a covered dish or desert, and if needed there is a large kitchen at the lodge for our use.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Hey,

We'd like to get a good showing up there! There are plans for loads of socializing, hiking, and even doing a short trip on the Buffalo (iif there's water! ). It's a good location, and central to a lot of outdoor activities. Start the year right, and we'll see ya there!

ty

For those who have never been to the Buffalo Lodge,
it is easy to find, but hard to convince yourself you are in the right place.
The sign is large (4' X 8') and the entrance to the road is right beside the sign.
However, when you first turn off the highway, it will appear as though you are
pulling into someones front yard/driveway. Wave at them then
follow the road to the right and stay on it. This road dead ends at the lodge.
Fighting for peace........
Isn't that like screaming for quiet?

I just updated the ACC Members Only area to include the DRAFT minutes of the October Meeting, for any Board Members who may want to review prior to their approval, or general members who want to know what are the likely topics of discussion at the upcoming meeting. These minutes have NOT been approved by the Board and will be deleted once an approved copy is available.

On another note, the map on the Buffalo Lodge website is too large of a scale, and seems to indicate the turn might be West of the Kyles Landing road, which doesn't seem correct. Can one of you GPS users who has been there confirm:
N36.0242 W93.2471 Buffalo Lodge
N36.0301 W93.2494 Turn off Hwy 74 onto County Road 446
Or, putting it differently, can anyone confirm, the turn is almost exactly 0.20 miles East of the Kyles Road turn?

Cowper that is correct....almost :) . The turn off is indeed east of the Kyle's landing road turn, but probably a little less than .2 miles....more like .1 miles...if that.

Hey Tom - what time does the actual potluck and meeting start? I may not get to leave until Saturday late morning. Also, is there a sign where we need to turn off Hwy 74? I think I remember how to get to Kyle's Landing.

For all meeting info, check out the first post. Renee, in answer to your question, we'll have a banner out at the turn off. For everyone coming, please be sure to click on the link for Buffalo lodge and get directions as phone service in the area is spotty..
