NW Chapter Roll Sessions

Post by Kurt » Wed Nov 03, 2010 10:24 pm

The NW chapter has scheduled the Jones Center Pool for Roll Sessions this winter. The time is 8:30 to 11:00. We ask that all participants enter the Jones Center Located on Emma street in Springdale through the West doors at Pool deck level. Please rinse your boats before coming and again before putting them in the pool. The west entrance is accessable from the rear of the building. The stairs are on the south west corner of the building in the playground. There is plenty of parking on the west side as well. We usually have plenty of experienced paddlers available for advice during the roll practice sessions.
We are looking for a two person craft, roll demonstration for the February 12th Valentines session. If you are interested in providing the demonstration please let me know.

The Dates are.
December 11
December 18
January 15
January 29
February 12

I don't have the craft, but if someone knows of one that is available my lady and I would LOVE to demonstrate a "divorce-boat." (So long as something steep ain't runnin'!)

How many parts did you "commandeer" from unsuspecting strangers Victor?

And congrats on the new Powerhouse! Those things are bomber. I recently had mine ran over on the highway (well, to be honest FarPastGone had it ran over) and I saw no ill-effects. Paddled Cheoah with it the next day and, although it was held back by my paddling abilities, the paddle was still going strong!

It took selling hundreds of Hub Caps to rasie the funds for fixing the car. I have 5 broken paddles and hope the powerhouse will not fall to that pile

I'm planning to be at as many of the sessions as I can... Happy to work with people interested in learning C-1 or Open Canoe rolls. Although 11:00 is past my bed time, so I may not stay the whole time... /:)

Just to clarify the time is 8:30 am to 11:00am.
I appreciate all the folks coming out to help. We usually need plenty of experienced boaters on hand to lend advice and encouragement.
I would be willing to try the C1/open boat roll this year, so will be looking for advice myself.
We have volunteers for the tandem roll in Zack and Anne. Although it's unclear if Anne knows she has been volunteered. We now need a tandem kayak. Does anyone have one?
We can probably put these two in a tandem canoe and capsize them, but Anne is smart enough to swim out leaving Zack on his own.

Also I don't think Ryan's rig ever had hub caps. Sounds like a frame up job to me.

Thanks for the clarification, Kurt, but I'm on the preschool schedule. My morning nap starts at 10:30 or I get really cranky and don't share my toys well, so it's still after my bedtime.

See ya there,

Im pretty stoked about sitting in my kayak. Sometimes, when its dry, I just go in the yard and pretend that i'm on whitewater.

Just be careful practicing your seal launches off the deck.
