Public comments needed for the Illinois River!

Post by OzarkTom » Sat Nov 21, 2020 5:39 pm

This is from Jerrid Gelinas, the proprietor of Gypsy Camp and Canoe-

Whether the Illinois River is a place of childhood nostalgia or a place for recreation and creating new memories, it is for all who have experienced it a place full of magic, history, and natural beauty that desperately needs your help to preserve it, and access to it, for future generations.

Help us find PUBLIC ACCESS to the Illinois River at the new Highway 59 bridge crossing. Help us protect the Illinois River streambank, trees, river quality, and more in the process. Let's make this construction site involve us, and allow us to float our rivers.

Please follow this link https://form.jotform.com/202924925823156 to the comment form to voice your concerns for the new bridge to protect the Illinois River. We have attached an example of the comment form with some recommendations for your comments. However, we encourage everyone to voice their concerns from their heart and with their voice! We are adamant that Alternate 2 is the better route, because Alternate 1 will cause the magnificent bluff to be blasted, enormous riverside trees to be leveled, and the Historic Gypsy Camp to be extremely vulnerable to flood damage. And we are strongly encouraging a third option for the state to rebuild the bridge in its EXACT location, but better with access, and streambank protection.

We need YOU to fill this comment form out ASAP. Please take a moment right now and click here- https://form.jotform.com/202924925823156 to complete the comment form online. We have ONE WEEK to fight this.
