Re: Feed back on Siloam Spring Kayak park

I've been there twice with my kids, coming down from Kansas City - this is an amazing thing for NW AR (wish I'd have thought of it years ago... ;) ) From a safety standpoint, there should be better signage for the general public. Wear PFD, discussion of high water hazards, hazards of diving or swimm...

Re: NW chapter plans for GAF

I have been planning on going for months, have the days off work and everything, but looks like I'm gonna have to miss it. No one from KC heading out now so I'm minus a ride. And my back's not doing so great in any case: I'd probably be struggling just to miss my line at Horns of God by as much as I...

Sad news this week

I hate to have to write this... some very sad news this week in the Ozark paddling community. Some of you no doubt remember Jason Bertschy (aka "Otter") from Bentonville. Jason hadn't paddled in a long time - he's been in a long fight with cancer, which finally took his life late last week...

Re: Tent recommendations?

I have a Nemo Losi 3P that I'm very impressed with. Sleeps 3 people + one 3 year old. Great design, solid tent, roomy, lightweight (for a big tent). I'm also a fan of the Hubba-Hubba, and I really considered the 3-man version of that one when I purchased this one.

Happy camping,

Re: Aloha all

Aloha indeed! And welcome to Arkansas, where we have a similar saying: "Sooie!" I'm about to head out to the islands in two weeks with wife and kids. Never been, and I'm looking forward to it. I hear it's nice there this time of year. And every time of year. We'll be on the big island, Mau...

Gonna need stronger materials if open boaters do more stuff like this:

Next logical progression: Tandem OC-2 waterfall record!?!

Re: July 4 creekin in Colorado?!!

Harlan, I'd be happy to share some beer with some LA (Lower Arkansas) paddlers on this trip. Probably have to wait until we're at the takeout tho, where I can drink mine out of a bottle and you can drink yours out of a boot... Hope you can make it out that way and we'll fire up something stupid and ...

July 4 creekin in Colorado?!!

Any other Arkies or expat creek boaters gonna be boatin out in CO July 2-6? I'm more out-of-practice than most years due to a near-terminal case of "dry-boat", but I remember the lines on a bunch of creeks and rivers out there. Well, I at least remember the really important eddies. No worr...

Re: Class 3-5 crew needed!

Ah, welcome to the midsouthwest! If you want to boat some great class 3-5 whitewater, your best option is to move back to Colorado. Your second best option is to move to anywhere else that has consistent whitewater. Your third best option is to have a job that you can take off middle of the week and...

Let's go paddle Yosemite!

I've run the Merced outside of Yosemite, but it's MUCH better scenery in the park. This is a great deal, and points to AW for working on this. Send them your membership check!
