Re: River runner kayak

I got to paddle an old friend's loaner Blissstick Huka last weekend on the upper Hootch. First time ever for me in any Blissstick boat. Upper Hootch wasn't very demanding (class I-II-III), but I was comparing the Huka to my Savage Skreem while not looking a gift horse in the mouth nor the generousit...

Georgia paddlers?

I'm almost through (for the present) after three weeks of trying to clean out my mother's house in Marietta, and wondered if anyone was going to be over here with an extra boat and paddle that I could fit into (I'm 210#). I thought I had three separate arrangements made, so I didn't bring my boat an...

Re: Chainsaw Jungle lives up to it's name

WOW. I know that was days of hot, sweaty, and difficult hard work. THANK YOU to all involved!!!

Eric Esche

Sorry I have been out of pocket over here in Georgia dealing with my mother's estate, but I'll volunteer in the future as both my chainsaws are out of the shop and ready to go.

Re: Traveling with Kayaks

If you haven't done it in the last 3 months, you might consider giveing the boats a coat of DuPont 303 or Armorall for UV protection and slickyness. Making the outside of your boat slicker might not help your skill level, but it does seem to cut down on the number of bugs that stick to it at highway...

Persiad's meteor Shower tonight

If you have clear skies tonight, 12:30PM to 4AM should be a good show with 60/hour predicted. I'd be out on the lake watching, but I have to leave early in the morning to drive to Georgia again. Y'all have fun.

Re: Nantahala or Ocoee

Thanks for updating me on the Ocoee. There used to be a lot of unguided commercial rafts on it. Glad to see they have stopped that. I was afraid they were going to get a lot of folks hurt that way who didn't have any respect for the water or the rocks. I remember trips where you would have 6 rafts f...

Re: Nantahala or Ocoee

I'm a tad biased having been a raft guide and safety boat there for 14 years, but I would rate them: 1. Chattooga 2. Ocoee 3. Nantahala I know that was one more selection than you added, but if you are going to pay for a raft trip, it is not that much farther over to Clayton. Even at bump and grind ...

Re: looking to get out on the water, been awhile. :-)

Will be going out from Monte Ne on HW 94 SPUR some time from this evening to Friday evening. Been getting caught back up on chores after having been gone 3 weeks. Call me if you want to go. Got extra sets of lights if you don't have them and we go at night when it is cooler.

Re: Tom Burroughs and Stephanie Crawley's wedding TOMORROW

It is spelled BUGSCUFFLE on the road signs, mailboxes, and on the embroidered cook's apron Tom had made up for me to commemorate the event. Thank you Tom and Stephanie for allowing me to participate. I had a great time and I WILL wear the apron in cooler temperatures. And for the record, Tom and the...

Tom Burroughs and Stephanie Crawley's wedding TOMORROW

I'd allow a few extra minutes drive time if you are driving in to the wedding tomorrow. The road is VERY dusty from the Bugscuffle Cemetary where the pavement ends to Pierson Road (CR276). I went in today to help set up the cooking arrangements and drop off a few things and I had to stop to let the ...

Hobie Pedal power boat (12' Hobie Mirage)

This is going to be the strangest gear review - a positive gear review from someone who has no interest in ever owning one and who never has been in one yet, and from someone who has in past mostly ignored sit on tops from September to mid-June. Think of this review as Eric discovering a new recipe ...

canoe cart

I bought one of those green metal fold up bicycle wheel canoe carts off eBay that has worked quite well on our Mad River canoe. It even came with a tire pump, although I have never used it. The cart is not rust proof, so if you keep it outside, you will need to keep it lubed up, and the tires will n...
