Re: suggestions needed for new kayak

I don't really know all the models of touring and cross-over yaks, but I can say one that should be on your list to consider would be an XP-10. Very WW capable, but has a drop down skeg which will help with the tracking.

Re: Cadron Friday 3/3/2017

Update - had a couple of cancellations. I'm still going, but it may be more like 11 to 11:30 before I get to Hwy 65.

Cadron Friday 3/3/2017

A few of us are meeting under the Hwy 65 bridge at 10:30 (ish) and planning to make the Pinnacle Springs to Hwy 65 run.

As always, company welcome! Level is going to be near the minimum floatable level, but with sunshine and reasonably warm weather, we're expecting to have a good time.

Just checking in to add the March 4 Cleanup on the Mulberry to the list. What I know is contained in this FB post, which I hope even non-FB people will be able to view: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater

Re: Ozarks paddler hoping to get acquainted in LR

Oh, another suggestion - check out the Arkansas Canoe Club Facebook group - this board has seen less and less used as more people migrate to that platform, so if you look only here you might miss something! And for a day trip, go out to the Little Maumelle area, and check out the new floating campin...

Re: Ozarks paddler hoping to get acquainted in LR

When you say "Any suggestions", I'm not sure what information you really need. Relative to dates, plan on going on a Wednesday night - Saturday's happen, but get cancelled a lot due to swim meets. On the "how to find it", plug 34.722 -92.3375 into your smart phone. Park as close ...

Upcoming Clean-ups - Feb 11, March 4, March 11 and more

On Saturday, Feb 11, we will be meeting at Morrison Lake on Bayou DeView to join a cleanup sponsored by the Cache River National Wildlife Refuge. This is on Bayou DeView, North of Brinkley Arkansas at the same area where we recently got 3 porta jons out of the river, but there are still 2 refrigerat...

Re: Winter/Spring 2016/17 Wetland Touring Schedule

DIane,
If you guys get closer to a date, be sure to get in touch with Debbie (or me) and we'll make sure you have info to get in two days of paddling for such a long drive.

Re: Passing of Don "Motor" Sims

I think I may have been on a Big South Fork trip with Motor when he dislocated his shoulder. It was sort of one of those freak things, as he was one of the better paddlers there that day. I know he had a reputation as a powerful paddler, possibly where the nick-name "motor" came from? I wa...

Re: Rex Hancock and Maddox bay ?

Sorry, I was having a little trouble following. You said it was south of a bridge, then when I said "which bridge" you said "no bridge". 34.9200 -91.7576 is about 25 miles West of DeView, but the map you attached shows different coordinates and clarifies exactly where you are tal...

Re: Rex Hancock and Maddox bay ?

PS - forgot to ask - do you know what day you were there, so I can check the level? Generally it needs to be above 14' or you'll encounter spots that just don't have enough water...

Re: Rex Hancock and Maddox bay ?

AGFC removing logs in DeView? They'll probably call the same volunteers that put up all the trail signs. (That would be Debbie, who calls me when there's chainsaw work or heavy lifting.) There's one major log jam on the trail just upstream of the spur that goes over to Hickson lake. I haven't tried ...
