Found Items at River School, and now returned

:D :D Marlo and I were probably the last to leave the Spring River Oaks take-out yesterday when I saw a nice PFD and helmet laying nearby. No name on the PFD or helmet, but I am fairly positive the items must belong to a participant of the course since the helmet had a lime-green piece of duct tape ...

Re: Remmel to Rockport Sat. 6/2

Chris, Thank you for organizing the Remmel Float yesterday, the temperature was hot as expected, but the water was always cool and refreshing. We had eight in our group, along with a few other ACC paddlers , and many locals just 'floatin-along'. It was a great day for Marlo and me to get back on the...

Caddo River Today

Several of us had a good trip on the Caddo today from the Narrows down to Glenwood. The water level was probably about 5.75ft. when we put in. There were three different groups of ACC paddlers out there. I was glad to be invited along today, as always, it was very nice to see some older friends as w...

Re: ISO crossover kayak

The older Dagger 10.0' Approach crossover model has been a very good boat over the years. It is a lighter boat than the ones you listed , and a bit less expensive, however still a good consideration if you can find one, it has good construction and outfitting. We have an XP, and I am also familiar w...

Re: Caddo River Saturday Mar. 3

Trip Report; Chris and Andy, and myself paddled the Caddo today from 'The swinging Bridge' at Caddo gap to Glenwood (9.5miles). The USGS level was in the 6.40ft. range at put-in time, but with the sustained run-off from past days rainfall, the river was running more like an upper six-foot range, we ...

Re: Solo seat mounting for Blue Hole Sunburst ll

I have really enjoyed this conversation, like many other older paddlers also, I started out in canoes, then either went to the dark side with kayaks or just enjoyed them both . I have ten kayaks and one great Blue Hole Starburst canoe. In the canoe, I have always liked being able to alternate from s...

Re: Prescribed or natural burns along Buffalo

A peek on the websites of either the Arkansas Forestry Department, National Forest Service, or the Buffalo National River N.P. may help with any information on previous forest maintenance operations.

Re: Spring and Summer Paddling in 2018

Lee, I hope to see you on some trips this year! We have made many together over the years, and since I sometimes invite newer paddlers along, I have certainly appreciated your assistance on many occasions :D If I post a trip , or sign on to someone else's trip post, it will be here if you are intere...

Spring and Summer Paddling in 2018

I often run into older people who are certainly old-hands with paddling , or younger people who are very enthusiastic and think canoeing and kayaking is the best thing, and are very interested. I always try to offer them encouragement and information on the ACC website, as well as suggesting the fac...

Re: Oh...kay

I was most concerned/relieved that the young man seemed to have escaped breaking his neck, hopefully. I am certainly pleased I didn't break mine on a couple of occasions much earlier in life when I seemed to be trying ' really' hard with various stunts .

Great edition of the Arkansas Paddler

Recently, Marlo and I took off on a nearly two week 'anniversary' road trip to Colorado. I have never been out west before and this was so scenic, we had a very nice time! A few days after returning home, I was going through the mail and found my latest Arkansas Paddler newsletter. I always enjoy si...
