Re: CONSERVATION ALERT--Richland Creek--Bearcat Hollow Phase

Due to the advent of fire suppression (as well as a number of other previously employed forest management practices) a lot of forest ecosystems in the United States are far more densely forested than they would have been naturally. In other words, fire controlled the amount of underbrush as well as ...

Wister Wave is Running

It is currently 5600 cfs which should be a pretty good level for the wave. I spoke with the dam operator and they are not going to be making flow changes until tomorrow, at which point they will likely drop it outside our flow window. So, if you can get to it today, get to it.

Re: Wister wave at 7300, how is it?

It is blown out at that level. You are really looking for flows of 4800-6500cfs with right around 6000 cfs being the sweet spot. With rain in the forecast Monday/Tuesday they are probably going to release full bore (7000 cfs or so) until the rain starts and then cut it back significantly. You may ha...

Re: there messin with us

I am with Chuck on this one. I don't think we have had any flows like we did for that week plus in November 2009 sine then. I can remember one chance last year, but I think the Poteau was so high it backed up the tributary Wister is on. Now granted eastern OK has had drought conditions for a portion...

Re: Wister Wave

The Poteau River has dropped downstream of the lake, but the lake has continued to rise (to 46.7% of the flood pool) even with releases of almost 4000 cfs for a few days last week. I could see the reason behind them dropping reservoir releases on Friday being the new round of rain we were expected t...

Is the new drop that formed where the Old Mill Falls used to be really gnarly?

Re: Wister Wave

It is really hard to forecast flow for Wister a week out, especially when we don't know if it will even be brought up to a playable level. Depending on how much rain we get this weekend and how slowly the Poteau drops you may get lucky, but who knows!? They may just keep it right at 4000cfs and nega...

Re: Warm Rio Vista Play Park for winter paddling practice

I suppose I will weigh in on this considering I lived in San Marcos for 4 years will I went to undergrad at Texas State and since my family lives about 30 minutes away so I still visit a lot. The San Marcos River emerges from the Edwards Aquifer (the same aquifer responsible for Comal and Barton Spr...

Re: Info on Fluid Detox needed

I have never paddled a Fluid Detox, but to me it looks like a compressed LL Remix 69 in the way it is shaped but similar to a Jackson Hero in size. The Detox is about 8 inches longer than the Hero and has about 5 gallons less volume but it is about a foot shorter than the Remix 69 and a little large...

Goose Creek, like the one the Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant releases its effluent into? Is there anything on it? It always has a base flow because of the treatment plant, so I have been curious about it.

I am pretty sure it is because the Mamba has been overhauled for 2012, it is supposedly a completely different boat, so that would make 2011 an out-dated model.
