Re: WTB Some of those little thingies

I think the name of those little thingies you were hunting for is eyelets. How many do you need? I have a few of the black nylon eyelets left over as I buy them by the hundred as they are cheaper that way and then I always have some to give friends. I buy them various places. Will do a search if you...

Re: WW Solo Canoe?

My 2 cents worth from a long winded old fart. I am NOT known around here as a whitewater canoe paddler, but I have paddled open canoe on a fair number (40+) of streams and creeks when I was younger, and have run class IV-VI and drops to 47' for about 10 years in an open canoe, in addition to both de...

Re: Esquif is no more

I'm very sorry to see that Esquif did not survive. They made very good canoes while they lasted, but I do not see closure and failure to bring a promised Royalex replacement to market as part of a "Mission Accomplished" statement. Hope they sold the molds, designs, and Tformex work to some...

Re: Where to Overnight Float?

I would recommend the Buffalo River even if it winds up being just a hair farther then 3 hours from Texarkana. Watch the weather forecasts closely for the ENTIRE drainage area and camp high up from the water if it is raining or forecast to be raining up stream. You do NOT want to have to break camp ...

Re: RIP Bob Stout

Anyone who paddled with Bob Stout came away with fond memories of that trip. Susan and I feel lucky to have gotten to paddle with him, and to have tasted his and David Reid's dutch oven desert duel. I think my favorite trip with Bob was when we left our group to "shepherd" some folks who w...

Re: Northwest chapter winter pool sessions -PHOTO

In case it was missed, on page 6B of the Sunday January 18th 2015 edition of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette newspaper, below the fold on the left hand side is a 3"tall by 4 column wide picture of David Jacobs, a University of Arkansas sophomore from Russelville, rolling his kayak at th...

Re: What's the Coldest Weather you Paddled?

Coldest that I have paddled whitewater? minus 20F on the Cheat in West Virgina and that was in the 70's, before I had ever even heard about drysuits and my first wetsuit was a 1/4" used suit sold to me by a fellow student at Georgia Tech, Bobby Gaar, Father of Clayton Gaar. Didn't think I could...

Re: Royalex Mad River Courier

Looks just like my Courier. Bet you will love it. So glad someone here is getting it, or I would have gone to get it and I am NOT in the market for another boat. Just racked and hung all my fleet last weekend. Doubt that I will get in anything other than a sea kayak for many months. Total Knee repla...

Re: Fix your whitewater roll

Having someone there to watch and "spot" you and tell you what you are doing right or not can be a help. If you are in NW Arkansas and are willing to roll in Beaver Lake and want some help, give me a shout and I will work with you morning, noon, or night, at a time that works for both of u...

Re: Elk Rivers Trash

I'll go for clean up trip on Big Sugar, Little Sugar, and/or the Elk if anyone wants to go during the week and run shuttle with me. I have a canoe trailer that will hold 4 canoes and racks on my Pathfinder that will hold 2 more canoes, but I need a day or two's notice so I can clean out the Pathfind...

Re: Buffalo getting rain and the storm is training

Hope your folks on the lower end were camped up high. Lower Buffalo jumped up several feet as well as the upper. Today would have been a great day for Ponca to Kyles or anywhere below. Lower Buffalo should hold all week end long if not longer.
