Join me in a Class II-II+ creek outing

The next time there is water in Big Cove Creek I plan to ease down two miles of this small waterway. It's located about 15 miles north of Hot Springs Village, flowing under a bridge on Highway 7. Photos of the creek can be seen on Flickr at https://www.flickr.com/photos/17863908@N03/albums/721577143...

Re: Little Missouri, 84 to road 12000 changed to SUNDAY

Too much water in the Little Mo for me. Post if you would like to paddle Self Creek.

Re: Little Missouri, 84 to road 12000 changed to SUNDAY

Looks like the upper Little Missouri will be running. I'm pretty sure Self Creek will be running. If anyone wants to paddle Class II Self Creek, that will be my first choice. If I get no takers, I'll go to the upper Little Mo if the level is not beyond my abilities. I'm sure there will be a lot of p...

Re: Little Missouri, 84 to road 12000 changed to SUNDAY

It's pretty clear that the water will be too high for a Class II trip down the 84 -12000 section of the Little Mo on Sunday. The Albert Pike to 84 section may be at a safe level by Sunday. There's a good chance that Self Creek will be at a Class II level. I'll check back here this evening with a dec...

Little Missouri, 84 to road 12000 changed to SUNDAY

Saturday's forecast for thunderstorms is the reason for the change to Sunday. See the post for the planned Saturday trip for other details. Meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Highway 84 bridge over the river, about 4 miles west of Langley. My relative still hasn't said if he is going to be here or not; he's ...

Re: Little Missouri Hwy. 84 to road 12000 Saturday August 20

The water level is falling to within an acceptable range. There is a 75% chance of thunder storms at noon tomorrow in the Langley area (the put-in). Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high of 83. As of Friday morning the weather for Saturday is too iffy. The river might rise to an unsuitable level d...

Little Missouri Hwy. 84 to road 12000 Saturday August 20

Possibly going to this easier stretch of the Little Mo, generally a Class II level at 4.5 feet to 3.8 feet on the gage at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ar/nwis/uv?site_no=07360200 Rain is in the forecast for that day and every day until then, so the water level is not easy to predict at this time. Incom...

Re: SUNDAY MAY 1ST EAST GAFFORDS CREEK

TRIP REPORT: This was a fun creek trip; no swims, no flips or rolls, but lots of maneuvering. Erik Smith and Calvin Doody joined me for the six miles that took about five hours. The lengthy time was due to some very slow going on the upper section which is full of tight turns and very little calm wa...

Re: SUNDAY MAY 1ST EAST GAFFORDS CREEK

You can probably catch us at the put-in about noon if anyone else decides to come. Take Bluff Road south from Hwy. 28 a couple miles until you pass the creek on your right as you descend a steep hill. Go a little farther along the creek until the road becomes paved, go left on the dirt road to Chula...

SUNDAY MAY 1ST EAST GAFFORDS CREEK

The water should be down to a safe level by Sunday for a *********** POSSIBLE FIRST DESCENT *********** of this Class II-II++ creek southwest of Danville. The take-out is at Highway 28 at Bluffton; put-in is up in the Ouachita Mountains. The approximately 6 mile run will be fast paced through a remo...
