Re: Buffalo River trip for out of staters

There are a couple outfitters in the upper district. Check out Buffalo Outdoor Center and Lost Valley Canoe. The upper sections of the Buffalo are very rain dependent, so you might have to adjust which section you'll be doing if we haven't had much rain.

Re: Kayak instructors

We don't have any instructor lists available on line. I know one of our board members keeps a database of the ACA certified instructors in the club, but I'm not sure if that database keeps track of which ones are available for private lessons. I'd recommend contacting the dust bowl chapter president...

Re: A question about the UALR pool

Where is the best place to park? Parking lot #2, the gates are open and it's public parking by the time pool sessions start in the evening. Take the campus entrance on University just behind Big Lots. where is the best place to enter the building? I'm usually the first/only boater there every week ...

Re: Little Missouri Friday July 21

I wouldn't recommend it without a helmet and a decent ability to catch eddies. This is a class II(III) section with continuous current. Swims here aren't great as there is very little shore to get out on to empty your boat because the river is essentially at flood stage when the generators are runni...

Re: Illinois bayou near Hector

Here's a link to a map showing the put in and take out for the Hector to Scottsville section, it's currently reading as below recommended levels so you may have some walking to do on this section right now.

Re: Helton's Farm Big Piney access?

Last i heard they were still fine with boaters paying to put on there, though from what I heard recently the access road is in pretty poor condition at the moment. The central chapter and a local outfitter are looking into helping improve the access point by filling potholes in the near future.
