Re: Rex Hancock and Maddox bay ?
We have paddled the Maddox bay area at all river levels, from so low that we had to drag over beaver dams to get into Adams Bayou, to so high that there was significant flow in Maddox bay, and it was possible to not only paddle into Upper Eagle's Nest Lake, but also paddle North-west out of Eagle's ...

Found - PFD on Little Maumelle
Found an almost new PFD floating in the Little Maumelle today, maybe a mile or two downstream from the Pinnacle Mountain State Park boat launch. Looks like it might have fallen or blown out of someone's boat. Let me know if you think it is yours. Can text 5 zero 1 four 72 nine 038 if you're not regi...

Re: (2) Lost Kayaks on Upper Ouachita River - Green & Camo
Jim, From his last post on Facebook, I know he found the camo kayak, but at last report had not found the green Pelican. He also indicated he had motored upstream five miles from the lake, and since he found the other boat about 1.5 miles downstream of the put-in, I suspect he has now checked the Dr...

Found - Recreational Kayak Paddle Cadron Creek
Found a recreational kayak paddle today on Cadron Creek, between Pinnacle Springs and Hwy 65. Based on the fact that I was looking for another paddle in exactly the same eddy just 3 days ago, I don't think it has been there long, but it had a surprising amount of slime on it so it could have been th...

Re: Found Canoe Cadron Creek 8-18-2016
GREAT! I'll send you a text with Billy's contact info. He has the boat, two PFD's, one paddle. And a mesh bag. Although we were considering the possibility the boat could be stolen - we also noted the mesh bag, full of beverage cans properly contained. That's the way good people act, not the act of ...

Found Canoe Cadron Creek 8-18-2016 (RESOLVED - Owner found!)
Billy Williams found a canoe in the Daddy's Knee area (between Pinnacle Springs and Hwy 65) today. He was able to free it and bring it downstream, now we just need to find the rightful owner. I don't want to offend anyone, but if you claim the boat, I'm going to ask for some ID, because the boat use...

I found some stuff, can I keep it?
[Note: I put a variation of this post under the “Arkansas Laws” thread; if you read that you don’t need to read this one too.] So, can I keep it? Well, it depends... You might ask, but don’t Marine Salvage laws say I can I just keep the stuff I find? The short answer is no, that is not what they say...

Re: Arkansas Laws - What every paddler needs to know
I wanted to update this thread to touch on another topic - the question: "I found a boat, can I keep it?" (I'll touch on other gear too.) Many people have some misguided belief that if they find a boat in the river, there is some type of Maritime Salvage law or "finders keepers" ...

Re: Cell Phone
My wife has an iPhone 6+ and is very happy with it. Everyone knows the screen is bigger than the 6, but you may not have heard the battery life is also considerably better than the 6. Between the 5s and 6 - ??? I don't know. I'm just suggesting see if the battery life is different since that matters...

Found - NRS type strap, SRO Take out Sunday June 12, 2016
Somebody left an almost new strap on the ground to the left of the take out ramp at SRO, almost certain it would have been someone from our River School. I mean, it's REALLY nice, got to be almost brand new. I like it so much, I'm not going to say the length or the color, just that it is NOT NRS bra...

Re: Lost lime green Dagger
This has me thinking, maybe we need another "pinnned" post that says something like "I found a boat, can I keep it?" Many people have some misguided belief that if they find a boat in the river, there is some type of Maritime Salvage law or "finders keepers" rule that a...

Re: Buffalo Cleanup, Kyles to Erbie, Wednesday 6/8/2016
Nine of us made it - level was 2.25' at Ponca. Put this down as the minimum level for this section, but that said, the water clarity and the scenery were both fantastic and I'd do it at this level again in a heartbeat. Got something approaching 400# of trash out of the river. Photos here: https://ww...

Buffalo Cleanup, Kyles to Erbie, Wednesday 6/8/2016
After getting several reports that there is a fair amount of litter just downstream of Kyles Landing, I've decided to do an "end of season" cleanup of this section. Section: Kyles to Erbie Distance: 5.7 miles Pace: Slow. We're looking for litter, and stopping when we see it. Meet: Buffalo ...

Re: Beer Tipper, She's Back
Sounds like good news!
On a similar note, yesterday it seemed to me that Gray Rock on the Buffalo is also trying to make a return. Yesterday I saw more current going toward the rock than I have seen in years; I think maybe at very low levels it will once again cause some problems for newer boaters.
