Re: Winter/Spring 2016/17 Wetland Touring Schedule

Grassy Lake Wetland Tour #3 Cancelled. The gates at Grassy have been closed, but the lake is filling slowly and is still quite low. We could possibly deal with low water, but the forecast is not so good either. Rainey and 45 degrees on low water doesn't make for a very appealing picture. I will defi...

Wetland Tour #2 H Lake Lower White River NWR 11/27/16

Wetland Tour #2 H Lake Lower White River NWR 11/27/16 H Lake is a very cool place and about as far from civilization as you can get in the central US. The paddle is a loop paddle around the lower part of the H and the distance is about four miles. Depending on how low the water has gotten, there may...

Wetland Tour #1 Little Maumelle 11/12/16 not Wattensaw

Wetland Tour #1 Little Maumelle Greetings everyone! Yes, this was the Wattensaw trip, but somehow in spite of looking at the deer season schedule, I did not see that Saturday is opening day. It will be a battlefield out there and I feel we will be safer on the Little Maumelle. I will post a new Watt...

We will meet at TRicks in Hazen exit 193 off I 40 at 9am. The plan is to put in at Hickson Lake, join the main trail and paddle up ...

Wetland tour to H Lake moved to Scrubgrass Bayou 4/23/2016

Wetland tour to H Lake moved to Scrubgrass Bayou 4/23/2016 I'm a little late posting as I was holding out for water levels to drop, but that hasn't happened. Roads on H Lake are still underwater. Instead we will go to Scrubgrass Bayou where we can get access to the refuge. On it's way to the Mississ...

Re: Deview Wetlands Paddle Sunday 4/3/2016

Absolutely gorgeous day on Deview. Only 5 of us today, Jerry Cavaneau and grandson Winn, Justin York, Martha Martha Bowden and me. The road into Hickson was under water, so we did the Hwy 17 to Apple Lake 11 mile trip. Stopped for lunch at the power line and then headed off into the maze section. Th...

Re: Maddox Bay wetland tour Saturday 3/26/2016

We had a beautiful day on Maddox Bay. We met some great landowners who allowed us to put in on their property, saving us a long upstream paddle. Trees were fresh and green with blue sky. Perfect temps and birds singing everywhere. We were able to paddle the whole route with enough water, had lunch o...

Re: Maddox Bay wetland tour Saturday 3/26/2016

Tsudo, your map is correct except for the section between points 2 and 3. We will head in a westerly direction from Eagles Nest Lake in order to stay in deeper water all the way to Cut Bluff Slough. As you come to Lawrenceville on 146, you will come to a T. Turn right and the store will be on your l...

Re: Winter/Spring 2015/16 Wetland Touring Schedule

The distance will depend on water level. It could be as much as 9 miles. Some of the group have to leave early. They may paddle up and back. That could be only as long as you want it.
