Re: 08/02 - Big Sugar Creek! - Trip Report
We had a fantastic trip!! We shortened the run due to local beta. We paddled from Big Rock (private put-in) to Sugar Island Campground. We had 6 ACC members (3 are brand new) and persuaded 2 others to join up!! 3.99' is not enough water to keep from dragging (quite often) and is not a great level fo...

Re: Tent recommendations?
We have had a Limelight 3 since April of 2012. It's the prior generation tent. They updated the door design and the look for the new one.
We have stayed 100+ nights in this tent. It is very dry. Even during multiple-day downpours.
The Nemo would definitely be worth a look as well.

Re: Big Sugar Creek - How low is too low?
Did you paddle Big Sugar? How was it at that level? Big/Little Sugar, Indian Creek area is my plan for a week in April. Any info on the streams, recommended campgrpounds, etc. would be very much appreciated. Thanks. I went with a closer run so that i could honor my buddy, Jon on Saturday night. I'm...

Re: Big Sugar Creek - How low is too low?
Sounds like the cfs to ft ratio had changed at the gauge. Powell is the only one on the creek that I'm aware of.Mike_P wrote:I like this float too. I dug out some old notes from 2011 that said 3.5 ft/98 cfs was adequate. Are we referring to different gauges?

It's at 4.16' / 38cfs The lowest recorded level that i have paddled it was 4.9'
Any input for the level this weekend? I'll call Sugar Island this afternoon. I'm dying to get on this creek. Its one of my favorite rec-floats!

That's 40/29s M.O. "If the story isn't there, MAKE one…. Or else."
I like how Craig points to the police patrolling the park to enforce the rules that 40/29 says don't exist.

Re: Week Of Rivers
I have been at WOR where it was sunshine every day for the event. But, that area of NC is well known for summer cloud bursts that now and then last all day!!!!!! Or in the case of last year, all week long. The Nantahala Cascades were running high with no release, French Broad was somewhere between ...
