Re: Gulf coast kayaking
Thanks Matt. I'm planning to do a 'kelp check' before I head down in a few weeks. Might be worth taking a few boats.

Re: zen vs karma?
I have a new Karma MD and a Zen 65 [2012]. After starting with a play boat, both are simply a riot to paddle. The Zen 65 was a fast, fun boat...but when I tried the Karma MD at the Ford I simply fell in love. I was shocked at the speed, surf ability, control [cutting ability], and forgiveness of tha...

Re: Ford [Siloam Springs Kayak Park] Action - Rescue Trainin
Good question. I sent your question to the city and invited them to response. 50/50 chance. Went out to the park again around 5pm, and noticed training was over...and the opposite of safety had begun in full force. They're HEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRE!!! Two more carloads of non-PFD swimmers a...

Re: Gulf coast kayaking
I know what you mean, when I was a youngster it was MUCH less trashy. Galveston has changed since the last bad hurricane somewhat. Yes, Surfside and 'most' areas along all the Texas coastline have 'undertow'. It gets 'real' bad depending on which sandbar you go out to. Step off the "3rd sandbar...

Re: Gulf coast kayaking
My only recommendation would be to contact Gulf Coast areas within your driving range "first" to check 'beach conditions' over everything else. Find a forum [surfers, boaters, etc.] online in THAT area. I'm from south of Houston, near Surfside Beach and found out the hard way. Ignored my o...

Re: Boatball, Wed, 5:30 pm, Chamber Springs access on Illino
Just want to say...and I promise this isn't because I'm only 5 miles away, since Chamber isn't much further...I'd love to see us play a game above the falls at the Ford. Just one. With all the locals hanging out there in the afternoon, they'd get a real kick out of it. Might even convert a few fishe...

Re: Siloam Springs Kayak Park Fishing Ordinance
Apparently this was talked about at the last ACC meeting I missed. I've heard they are wanted "photos of fishermen being bad" to react. Which to me is just ludicrous. Crazy. ...and other words. Siloam Springs has limited 'public' access to the Illinois river. Meaning none. The new/rare acc...

Siloam Springs Kayak Park Fishing Ordinance
This was not the response I was hoping for. After being 'cast around' last month by fishermen, then seeing a snagged line get cut across the top wave a few weeks ago, I wrote a couple of Emails just assuming signs hadn't been put up yet. Finding out there is no preventative ordinance did surprise me...

Re: Happy Hour on Frog Bayou 3-11-15
Thanks to Nathan & Kru for making this happen. Nothing like 'happy hour' on the Frog.
...and that crazy eagle. Priceless.
Thanks for the pics, Mike & Kru.
[FYI: 2.2 [A-B] 4.3 [B-C], so you were right on at 6.5 miles] :) Perfect after work run.
