Thursday paddling
I'm looking to make a trip up on Thursday, but I'm looking for something other than the Tot. Where's everyone headed?

Re: Tot bridge status?
If you're floating down, you need to portage to the left- unless its scraping 3 feet on the gauge, you won't be able to float underneath. Last time I was there, the road was blocked about 300 yards away from the bridge. If you're trying to putin there, i'd just put in at ed banks or lower down at th...

Re: TROPOS or GORTEX
Just pointing it out- NRS has some top of the line stuff, but not all of their stuff it top of the line (a recent conversation I had with Rusty). I've got the NRS motion soften shell jacket (http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product.asp?pfid=2566" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), a...

Re: Raft repair question
Also, just food for thought- I know a former raft guide on the Ocoee for 17+ years who Rino-lined the bottom of his boat because he was tired of having to constantly repair it. The good news is that he won't have to for a LOOOOONG time, the bad is that it is kind of ruff on the skin while carrying. ...

Re: Raft repair question
Don't do the innertube patch. It's a different type of material and won't hold if you hit a rock. Its best to get the boat fixed properly, so you won't have to drop another 2 grand for a new boat.

Rain at the Tot
Tot's at 7 feet and rising as of 10:00 this morning. I'm trying to through stuff together to get out of Shreveport at noon- any Arklatex boaters up for going on a wednesday afternoon? Or anyone willing to meet up to shuttle from highway 4 bridge to ed banks? I would actually love to run baker too, b...

Borrow a Skirt for Tomorrow?
My brother and I are thinking about making a trip to Rockport tomorrow, the only problem is that we're light a skirt. Anyone in Texarkana, Little Rock, or at Rockport tomorrow willing to lend a fellow paddler a hand? I'd much appreciate it, and my brother would more than me (he would avoid swimming).

Re: Is this Legal?
It's legal. The same reason that drug dogs can be used by walking them through a crowd. Though if you ever get into any kind of argument with any cop, tell him you need his badge number (they are required by law to give it to you for indentification, they just don't advertise the fact). You can lite...

Re: Question for Cossatot experts
Deer camp rapid is below the falls- a class III depending on the day. The camp is still there if I'm not mistaken... As for the Sheeps den- if you look on the signs put up within the last decade or so, you will see directions that point to the Falls Campground- I always assumed that's what they call...

Question About Ozark Creek Information Summary
I've had a lot of free time lately, and as usual, have been reading old river descriptions over again. I was reading the description of the Tot when I thought- how long has this page been up? I've been using it for years, but I have no idea who made it to begin with (THANK YOU whoever that was- you'...

Re: First Timers Trip down the Ocoee
Make sure that you hit the right-side boof at Tablesaw, miss the meat at Grumpy's, and don't get run over by a raft. Because y'all choose one of the busiest weekends of the whole summer to come up here.

Anyone ever paddle the Moose?
Has anyone on the board ever been lucky enough to hit up the Moose in NY state? I've been reading up on it, and it sounds like a sick nasty run (plus a super long drive).

Re: kayak problem...help, Opinions please.
Just throwing this out there- I learned to paddle in a crossfire. And I paddled that boat for years. My dad and I were running the Nanty in a Mirage and a Crossfire for a while (before it became cool again to paddle longboats). My suggestions- first, keep the crossfire. It's not the easiest boat to ...
