Re: Recreational Rights Attacked

Yes, we need to support our attorney general on this issue. Access issues are becoming more and more critical. The McIlroy decision should take precedence if we want to be sure of having access to our creeks. Thanks Larry! Is there anything we can do now that would help?

Re: Strawberry river

Just got back from the San Juan and looks like the Strawberry is on the rise! I'm thinking a trip this week is in order. Will keep you posted.

Re: Strawberry river

I'm headed for the San Juan this week. If we still have water when I get back, I'll try to put together a midweek trip.

Re: Strawberry river

I took a group up for a tour of the Nature Conservancy's demonstration ranch a few years ago. It is a beautiful place. I would like to float the river again myself. If we get several others to go, we can run our own shuttle.

Re: Strawberry river

The gage is at 2.5 now. I have done it at 2 feet and it was low but floatable. The water quality was great and it was a very nice trip. Unfortunatley I don't know of anyone who does shuttles.

Re: Where is your best spot for Watchable Wildlife?

This has been a great thread. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. The Outdoor Hotline show went very well. I got in a plug for the club and the website for people to see all of your great ideas. I don't know if anyone saw the show or not. Our internet went out for about a week just as I was get...

Re: Where is your best spot for Watchable Wildlife?

Thanks everyone. We are so lucky here in Arkansas. Most of us can still live close to nature and see wildlife from our back porch. Richard, all your suggestions are good. I especially like the idea of just looking down or up and Kim, I agree 100 percent that just sitting still and watching gives the...

So Cliff, does that mean I can tell people on public TV to come to your house? :poke:

Where is your best spot for Watchable Wildlife?

I have been asked by Arkansas Game and Fish to do a segment of Outdoor Hotline on AETN. The subject will be their watchable wildlife program. We will be talking about places in Arkansas where wildlife can be seen. I know the places that I like to go and wildlife can be seen on any stream in the stat...

A group of paddlers had a deep discussion on this matter last night at the party. What impression does a western river tripper have when they come to Arkansas? To float a wild and scenic Federal protected river. Then find crap piles everywhere? Should the club lobby to have the rules changed to car...

I think that most of the trip leaders who routinely take groups on western river trip already have access to groover or eco-safe systems. What I would like to do is propose to the board that the ACC invest in a bio-bag system for use by club members who are taking large groups on overnight trips in ...
