Re: It almost happened today
Glad this kid is OK. Glad you guys were there to help. That sounds like a fluke accident, but I tell you - it is a fluke there haven't been MANY more. When I'd kayak the Illinois state line-to-Talequah - I realized there are NO rapids, falls, nothing - so that is why the "stupid" I witness...

Re: MEDIA DAY FOR WHITEWATER PARK
To show the media the new River Park is great for beginner paddlers, I can demonstrate the Wet Exit, the Partial Exit Foot Hang, the Half Roll, the Upside Down Flop, the Paddle Chase, and another newbie move I call the 'Fell Over By A Boulder For No Apparent Reason'. Sounds like a great lunch break....

Re: Sharing the waves with tubers - a reminder.
@fzburk - You hit the nail on the head just using the term "waterpark". Most of the locals [like me] I've recently talked to that are finding the park for the first time - really don't know WHAT it is. Just the word "waterpark" makes a person think of a safe, forgiving, padded ar...

Re: SSWWP safety concerns!!!
Hcarr - Being a local and being at the park every weekend, one thing is clear: Most people [non-boaters] I've met have no clue what the park is, how it is designed, or what options it presents. Boaters seem to naturally assume caution is necessary [regardless of 'engineering' rumors] until they are ...

Re: Grand Opening of the new WW park
So is there still a 'Grand' opening the 28th, separate from the 'soft' [Media Day] opening?

Re: Kayaker from Arkansas Drowns In Texas
Just to second the PFD comments. I was practicing my 'wet exit' in my first WW boat, in the river just 3 weeks ago in only 5 feet of water. I forgot my nose plug on the fourth try and filled my sinuses almost immediately when I tipped over. Not ashamed to admit I panicked, pushed out early with new ...

Re: Progress on Fisher's Ford Park
This morning at 10:30am it was high enough to be 'partially over' that first manmade cement island by the bridge. I was on the South side, but the water was far enough up the ramp I could not get out far enough to see the water features. Tried to go up high, but too muddy to get to the bank. I had s...

Deuce & Nimrod - Thanks. This may be the direction I end up going if I can't design something better. NIce idea having the storage built in.

Re: Adding Floatation - Recreational Kayak Advice
@Eric - Only laughing out of surprise I didn't think of it first! I like to 'recycle'. :) You mentioned the 'structural support' which is one of the reasons I was considering/asking round the 'liquid foam' as the application I read about had it as floatation. I was trying to concoct a plan where I p...
