Luke is absolutely right. Gary (near Boiling Springs) knows more than a few.

Re: The Missouri Paddlers Guide

All: While the above guide in pretty handy, be aware that most of the information in it is quite outdated. If you follow it to some noted accesses, you will find a lot of "no trespassing" signs and such. River mileages, I think, were included on the maps before GPS usage was common, so mos...

Re: Current River Trip Report

Luke: Thanks for having us along! Not only for the good company, but thanks for the great supper and for the "yak lift" you provided. Sorry this reply is so late, but we've been paddling pretty much nonstop since we saw you last: Big Piney River (MO version), Current again (but upstream), ...

Be well.

Re: Current River in February

Luke:
The honor is ours. Thanks!

We decided to come on down a bit earlier so that we could join you on the upper river. (I've edited the above note also...)

We'll be coming over from Boiling Springs on the Big Piney (River not Creek) to join you on Saturday, if that's ok.

Be well.

Re: Restore blue hole?

Jeff: I have seen some good cleaning results from some older royalex boats, using (oddly enough) just windex and a 3M dish scrubbing pad. Some of the older formulations of Royalex exuded a dark, sticky layer when left out in the weather for years. It looks almost like a coating of sap, but will come...

Re: Any one have a Wenonah Canoe Solo - Rendezvous for sale

D:

There is one listed on paddling.net (in Ohio) for $400 as of today.

We'll be going down to Southern MO in three weeks so could work out transport...

(However, the TBC Arkota is a better big solo...) (if you can find one...)

Re: Current River in February

Luke:

We'll be driving down to Licking, MO on the 17th, so might be able to join you for a day or two. We're familiar with the river from way upstream to Round Spring, but haven't done the lower section.

Want some company? My email and phone # are at the bottom of this post.

What date in February? My wife and I will be in the area late in the month.
(SILLY question now that I read your post again!)

Southern Missouri: Feb 20 - Mar 17

Folks: Us Northerners have to get away from the cabin fever in the winter (if we can), and once again this year, we'll be doing a set of paddle trips mainly in Southern MO between Feb 20 and Mar 17. We will paddle every day during that time if the weather, water levels and our bodies hold up. We'll ...

Re: Cossatot phone gauge???

Roger: Stole the line from an out-of-work comic! Besides, I teach history, gummint, cibics, artz, ecconomics, and journalists! Not English! :yahoo: I used to teach Anguish myself... And if you're using the term "gummint", are you, by chance, a reader of the old "Pogo" comic strip...

Roger: Since it is singular, shouldn't that word be "audeint?"

Re: ILLINOIS BAYOU HECTOR TO SCOTTSVILLE SAT. 1/14/12

Cap'n: Cannot make such a trip this month, but my wife and I will be heading down to Southern MO (Licking / Houston area) from Feb 20 to Mar 17 and would like to join you one one of your adventures during that period. We migrate south each February to avoid our native (white and Rockwell 32C hardnes...
