Re: fishing illinois bayou

I certainly agree with you on the bridge sides, but don't want to annoy my engineering friends by bemoaning the point. At least in my truck, I can sort of glimpse many streams I cross but can forget it when in one of our more 'low slung' vehicles :) I fish from my rec. kayak all the time and regardl...

Re: fishing illinois bayou

Buffalofloat, The I.B. is a little out of my home area but how I have admired the look of it each time I've been heading to the Buffalo over the years! From what of the stream I see from the Hwy 7 crossing, it looks just super, I know if I lived in Dover, I would either be swimming or fishing there ...

Re: Fishing at the Ledge

That's right Dan. I loaned a boat to friends paddling Dragover last week, only to hear about one of them landing a 23-24" Smallie :)

Although we don't keep the Small Mouth either, Marlo is upstairs as we speak, preparing some of those Crappie :)

Best Regards

Re: Fishing at the Ledge

Jim was too kind to mention the fact that I caught just one crappie. I got stomped into the dirt today by my hubby. Well, enjoy it while you can my love, the next time out it's my turn! :hammer:

Fishing at the Ledge

The Ledge at Rockport has so many fun venues :D Aside from the Ledge being a super spot for whitewater play ,or the downstream terminus of many a pleasant float from the dam, it's also a nice place to cast a lure. In the past, I've made several fishing-only expeditions to the Ledge, and caught some ...

Re: Good beginner float? - results

Thanks for the trip report Russell. I'm also glad you had a nice time. Those prictures sure look like 'Happy Family' :D That's what we all like! Do keep the Surf-N-Turf in mind, it's always a fun day and a chance to meet many of the paddlers in the club. As I mentioned before, with a little advanced...

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM

Thanks so much all! :D Marlo and I just returned home from a day at Arkadelphia, I really must fore-go the projects here in Benton and get on with some serious mowing down at the farm. (and housebuilding plans after that...) That Dallas grass is awaiting with a vengeance  Currently I'm tryi...

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM

Thank you so much all !! It's been just the best day! Marlo and my mother have been so sweet today. I just know, 55 years ago today, Mom was feeling a heap more relieved :D It's been a wonderful life, as Jimmy Stewart might say! None of it would be quite as nice without the very nice friends I've me...

Re: Dragover Float Trip on Saturday the 21st

Hey Lifejacket, It was almost total solitude on the Dragover but I mentioned to Marlo during the day that I'd bet the Caddo was busy. I know the renters most always have a ton of fun even when low and I couldn't be happier for our outfitter friends who are having a better year for 'making hay while ...

Re: Dragover Float Trip on Saturday the 21st

Hey All, Marlo and I had a pleasant trip on the Dragover section yesterday! The sky was so blue and the river felt so nice for some swimming. At 3.3ft though it is a little pushy for fishing the rapids but couldn't be better for WW play. As far as fishing, not a stellar day but I did manage to final...

Dragover Float Trip on Saturday the 21st

Marlo and I are heading over to float and fish the Dragover section of the Upper Ouachita in the morning. We plan to arrive about 10:30 or so, any others who would care to ride over with us or meet there would be fine. Currently the river is at 3.31 ft. and it dosen't look like the chance of rain is...

Re: Big Spoons paddles

I bought a Big Spoons WW 250 paddle from OOO about seven years ago.
At least with this model, I think it's fiberglass shaft&blades, an entry level-priced paddle, I think it was around 50 or 60 dollars at the time.

Dragover

Brandon, By July 4th, it can many times be dry, and hot as the hinges here. One sure bet for a fun day for park and play, float,or combination is the Remmel Dam to Ledge float on the Ouachita R. below Lake Catherine. You can get the release information online by registering, also just ask on the boa...

Prodigy

Linda, like Roman said, the cockpit size is certainly something to consider. From my take on things, the Rec. boat industry has somewhat tried to design for both smaller people out there and customers who may only be only 'slightly rotund', but I can only guess they have also tried to design for the...
