Re: Just Starting
Boyo, I concur with Roman, do come to the Rendezvous if possible! If you like, we can paddle some flatwater on Lake Catherine on Saturday and maybe some gently moving water the next day on a Ouachita River float. I'm certain, between the paddling, looking, visiting, you couldn't get a better primer ...

Re: Little Mo/Narrows Dam (Friday, Aug 8)
Yes, Karla, you're welcome to ride over. I am planning on leaving our place about 10:30 or so. Also planning on stopping at Don Juan's in Hot Springs for supper on the way home if possible. Lupe, I too plan to get there early enough to unload at the put-in then head to the take-out to either leave m...

Re: So whats the best way to get a little exrta foot room ??
Kayakn, I have an 'old school' boat with even more room from the start, but with my long feet, I had to do something. The foam bulk head up front is there to strengthen the kayak, and provide a measure of safety in pins. In light of this, and also not wanting to get too happy cutting on the bulkhead...

Susan, You're very kind, as always! I'm taking my Uncle& Aunt and adopted son, all here from Calif., on the short Lower Caddo trip in the morning. I have the boats covered but you are welcome to join us if you'd care to. Looks like I will paddle my Aunt & Uncle in my canoe, they're both in t...

Larry,

Re: Releases from Lake DeGray
Thanks Byron! I do remember times in past Summers when they released on weekends as well. Aside from the way things are on the Caddo now, do you remember quite some years ago when they were experimenting with the Caddo as a potential 'Cold Water Fishery'? It seems like the larger and much colder rel...

Re: Releases from Lake DeGray
Minna, During the Summer, the Corps. releases water on the Lower Caddo about every afternoon during weekdays only, to generate electricity. Three or four O'clock is usually when it gets going but the paddling distance from the Lower Dam Ramp to Hwy 67 is only two miles, and while it's a cool diversi...

Re: River Cleanup Technique
Half Ton, Until I viewed your pictures, I didn't realize you were mainly referring to campsites on dry land... Certainly for those on bare earth, I really recommend a flat shovel to scrape the ground, and plenty of capacity to haul the spoils away. It's certainly more difficult in the 'weedier' areas...

Re: River Cleanup Technique
Half Ton, If I were trying to clean a specific area thoroughly, like a swimming area, I could only guess a technique like Roger mentioned would be the best. When you mentioned glass in the river though, I thought of all the, usually single, pieces, and whole bottles ,I've found on the Caddo over the...

Re: How was Surf & Turf?
Cowper,
I should have left the trailer, the one with the with the nice comfy carpet, to disassemble that bad old raft frame on :)
You were a hit at S&T with that raft, I only heard good things!
Worthlessly Yours

Surf&Turf was just Great! Marlo and I really enjoyed ourselves! It's always a particular pleasure for me to get to meet and visit with folks from out of state and also the further reaches of the state whom I've not met before. I appreciate all of you for your efforts to come! Of course seeing al...
