Central Chapter Meeting Tuesday 3-22

The central chapter monthly meeting is still about two weeks out but I thought I'd go ahead post so I don't forget. This month we will have a presentation on energy efficiency. Things you can do from free to expensive that will cut your energy bills at home. Also it is time to nominate new chapter o...

Re: cadron strainers??

I couldn't find the post, but I found my GPS track for that day. It is 13 miles total, 8.4 of that above Sara's Wave (the first real rapid). When I went the water was at 4.0 and moving pretty good for those extra 8 miles but I was taking my time scoping out possible access points so it took me just ...

Re: cadron strainers??

There is a put-in north of Guy where Mill Road crosses at N35 21.250 W92 19.000. It adds an hour or maybe a little more than an hour of flat (but fairly swift) water above the Weidower put in that we used last year. I don't remember exact figures and I can't find the trip report I did for that secti...

Re: Richland today

If it helps any, the put-in is about N35° 46.450 W092° 59.300. I've taken my Saturn s-series passenger car to both put in and take-out several times, but the road can definately be rough after rains. I definately would want to take the shuttle at speed in anything with low ground clearance. David Mc

Re: Tot Saturday, anyone?

I'm eyeing the Tot for Saturday.

I'm sure others with more flexible jobs will be there all already and stay through the weekend, but Saturday is looking just about perfect. 68°, sunny, low winds, and the level predictor says it should hold above 3.5 through the day (and maybe into Sunday.)

Re: Central chapter meeting?

Yes there is a meeting, no there is not a program, at least not yet (4 hours to the deadline....). I totally spaced about the fact that tonight is the 4th Tuesday and was just getting on-line to post a call for programs. I'd love SWR/water safety if someone could throw that together this fast, but I...

Re: death by gps

Here is a comparison of MS Streets & Trips, Google Earth and USAPhotoMaps at their highest resolution. This is Hwy 65 crossing the Buffalo. If you are refering to Garmin MapSource Streets and Trips you are looking at some VERY old data (in tech years). Garmin switched from Streets and Trips to ...

Re: death by gps

As always the ultimate responsability lies with the user. It's not "death by GPS" it's death by incompetance (or outright stupidity). A lack of competance with the tool, whether it's a GPS, a topo, or a chainsaw is going to put the user at some degree of risk. Some tools more than others. ...

Central Chapter meeting Tuesday 1-25

One week away everyone. This month David B. Vandergriff will be giving a trip report with photos from the ARG's June 2010 trip to the Middle Fork. Just in time for everyone to get in their last minute entries into the western river permit lotteries. Come out for the photos, food, and freinds at the ...

Central Chapter meeting Tuesday 11-23

Thought I'd get the announcement out in advance this month and hopefully I won't forget between now and then.

Margret Bartlett will be giving a trip report from Isle Royale this month, our last meeting of the year.

Official stuff starts at 7:30 as always.
