Re: Solo seat mounting for Blue Hole Sunburst ll
I started out boating in Grummans, when the OCA's came out WOW the fun factor was there in the OCA, solo or tandem. Then the Sunbursts came out and I thought wow what a hot design. Seat style and placement are very personal and you have received good advice already. Nothing I can add to. For me, I d...

Re: Kayak instructors
My advice is to head out to Tulsa's DustBowl Chapter DOG November 4th. Spend the day either cooking, eating or both and stay for the fellowship Campfire and camp. The Chapter has several ACA Instructors and many will be there. Tell them Dave sent you!!! The Chapter also puts on various instruction c...

Re: Pine Creek Gage Project
I see the Pine Creek Gage is now up and running. Even tho Randy Jackson and myself ran Pine several time way back when, I have no knowledge of what the new gage readings mean. We just went down there when it rained a lot. Anyone have any idea of good levels on the gage to run this little jewel? I ga...

Re: Devils River
The Devils River and the Pecos in Texas have been on my bucket list for years.
Now that I have a professional quality video and report from a local ACC boater, that just gives me more of an incentive to check out this part of Texas.
Thank you for the post and informatio

Re: Pine Creek Gage Project
I am blessed to be part of the small group of people who have run both Pine and Clear Creeks. I grew up in North GA, learned to boat there, NC and East TN. Clear Creek reminds me so much of the creeks of my misspent youth. To find a creek like this in SE OK is hard to believe. Pine is similar to Cle...

Re: suggestions needed for new kayak
I have done two self support multidays for 5 days out of a kayak (It was a large Prijon kayak model on the Salt River in AZ) and same for canoes (Winona Rendezvous solo most of the time but several other solo and tandem designs Buffalo, 11 point, North Fork type of rivers). Kayaks, even the larger k...

Re: Passing of Don "Motor" Sims
May Motor rest in peace. I have fond memories of boating with Motor, this group and others of the day. When Big Piney was running there were several groups who would spend hours if not most of the day playing at "surfing rapid". It was a sign of the times and great fun for all of us to mee...

Re: Winter kayak camping
11 point is a good choice I think. Your float is on my calendar but as mentioned I am weather dependent due to a lot of metal inside that acts up some times in freezing weather. After the accident I have done quite a few MO stream canoe floats and really do like the area for canoe camping in fall or...

Lets hope for decent weather.
Might be a battle of DO pine apple upside down cakes, but I have a recipe for rum enhanced pound type cake that might be better tasting.

Re: Winter kayak camping
Hey Deuce,
Depending on weather IE if all the metal inside reinforcement does not freeze up, there may be another SOB (Squeaky Open Boater) along.

Re: Seeking BWCA advice
Mr Jim is right on the bulls eye with his advice! I will add a couple of my paper back fav's as well as what Jim said. Camping Secrets by Cliff Jacobson and The Complete Wilderness Paddler by James West Davidson & John Rugge which is similar to Eric S. book in concept. My first river trip was a ...
