Re: Current River: Winter, Funerals and Flexibility

Maybe for the first time I'm in agreement with Luke's account of a trip. It was a great float with lots of eagles seen and a fair number of wild turkey too. Surprisingly, there was an inordinate amount of hork sign, especially on river left. Although we didn't see any, it's nice to know they're expa...

You'll catch our next trip John. Unlike Luke, I'll raise a plastic cup to you tomorrow night.

Re: Packrafting anyone?

No Tim, I hope to be geared up with a Super Puma going into summer. I'm just thinking about expanding my horizons with the packraft. BTW, me and Deuce (despite our obvious lack of skills) discussed applying for membership in ARG. I did have the pleasure of boating with several ARG members on the Pin...

Packrafting anyone?

I've been giving packrafting some serious thought. I'm into UL backpacking/distance hiking and packrafting would open up many new possibilities combining the best modes of backcountry travel. Of course, day-tripping would be cool too. Specifically, I'm considering the Alpacka Yukon Yak with whitewat...

Re: CURRENT RIVER AREA Oct 12 - 17

Chris - I don't even know where to start with this one...I can say a that Boy Scout troop from Mississippi, having just experienced a mishap themselves (and perhaps earning a merit badge in the process), kindly directed my undisclosed paddling companion in a purplish canoe (or was it lavender...) to...

Re: CURRENT RIVER AREA Oct 12 - 17

Luke - I'd like to get in on your overnight. It's hard to top Current River gravel bar camping! Certainly I expect you to do all the cooking....a 7-course dutch oven extravaganza no less! You must be bringing a raft to handle all that cooking gear...

5.10 water tennies are great (if they stay together). Don't expect more than one season of hard use.

Re: Eleven Point Greer to Riverton on August 24-25th

OK everybody, here’s the plan – Meet at Richards’ Canoe at 9am Saturday morning, August 24th. For those of you arriving Friday night and camping you want to be packed and ready to roll at 9am. Group campsites are to the right of and behind canoe trailers. Rate is $3 per person. We’ll settle up on Sa...

Re: Eleven Point Greer to Riverton on August 24-25th

Richard's is not scenic (compared to Greer Crossing) and rather primitive. They do have a shower house that could possibly do double duty as a fish cleaning station. On the plus side, the Richards family is extremely nice and takes pride in helping their customers. It's close to the launch and is a ...

Buffalo Nat'l. River visitor comment form

The Ozark campground host handed these out to our group on Sunday morning. Great weekend with clan Crawford! Eleven us did Steele-Kyles on Saturday then half of us did a short float on Sunday, Hasty-Carver.
