Re: Fishing in 2014

I want in. I fished the maumelle river on Sat 3/8 and the white bass are starting to run. I'm always looking for someone to fish with. PM me and we'll work out details. I live in SE Ark (near Felsenthal NWR) but grew up in NLR so I'm in the area about every other weekend visiting family or fishing.

Alternative to high priced LA redfishing guides - kayak styl

Wanted to pass along a recent experience I had w/ Rev. Redfish Retreats. Anyone looking for an alternative to high priced guides might find this information beneficial. For $100.00 ($50 if you just want a fishing buddy and have your own gear) he provided an exceptional trip, including kayak (WS ride...

Re: What Fishing Kayak do you like?

I've owned a ult14.5 for 2 years and it has been a great boat for fishing. I got mine primarily for fishing and camping...I fish from it all day and night sometimes. I mostly use it in slow/flat water but have taken it down the Buffalo and Crooked Creek several times w/o any issues. I use a bow and ...

Re: Central AR fisherman?

Sounds like a plan. I'll let you know when I'm up there again and we'll do it...maybe the 1st and/or 2nd weekend in June. I sure wish it would rain...I've only gotten to fish the ozarks once this year and already having withdrawls. If you're ever down here let me know.

Re: Central AR fisherman?

I don't live there now (SE Ark), but grew up in NLR, and am in the area (Mayflower/Cabot/Levy) monthly visiting family. I will fish just about anywhere (frequent Conway, Brewer, Ozarks)...I'm alway's looking for someone to fish with, shuttle, or fish new areas...the main reason I got a kayak was b/c...

Re: Night fishing on Lake Monticello

It can get bad...I've only been the last few yrs but it's worth it b/c it's so much fun to catch a big bass in a kayak. I never go in the spring. There usually aren't many people on it at night...and they don't run 70 mph at night. Last week I only saw 5 boats at 6 and none after 845.

Re: beginner canoe float

Might be hard to find a river that you won't drag. Have you thought about a lake? Cane Creek in Star City has a kayak trail and pretty good fishing. Plus it won't be full of ski boats and bass boats on Memorial day weekend. It's a favorite place to take my kayak. http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/ca...

Re: Night fishing on Lake Monticello

Yes you need a flash light or small lantern in the boat to alert other boaters of your location. I carry a headlamp, a battery powered lantern secured to pvc hung 3 feet above my head, and 2 flash lights. However, nothing has to be on...I don't use my lights unless I need them....I use the lantern w...

Night fishing on Lake Monticello

The weather is perfect for night fishing right now, calm water and cool nights. The fish have been a little slow but just being out there makes the trip worthwhile. Here are a few pics from my trip. Had the lake all to myself…no complaints.

Re: Fishing kayak advice needed

I agree w/ stymie you have to decide where you'll use it most. Since I only use it in the ozarks a few times-I have a bow skirt that I use when on the river. It helps some but I do get water in the boat. For me it's the best option...during the summer we take our ski boat to the lake. I want to fish...

Re: Fishing kayak advice needed

Most of the time I fish in SE Ark or LA. I'm from NLR so I get up there pretty often also...about 1 weekend a month. I try to get to the buffalo or crooked creek a few times a year. I do all my kayak camping in the ozarks. I would say that it paddles good w/ gear...assuming you mean camping gear. I ...

Re: Fishing kayak advice needed

I don't have a WS but I do have a native ult 14.5 that I love. I don't think there's much difference between these boats. I saw the native 1st and knew it was right for me. So I won't recommend a specific boat. However, I can say that hybrids are great for fishing and solo camping. I stand and fish ...

Re: Crooked Creek Snow-Kelly's Slab 4/28-29

Nice fish, and a little friendly ribbing!! I've done really good on tubes. My favorite is a craw. I'm no expert but I would suggest using bigger baits. I don't downsize for smallies, I use the same size I would for LM's. You won't catch as many but when you do it'll be a good fish. Plus you can catc...

Re: Buffalo River Questions

Like the others have said that section of the river most likely won't me floatable in the summer. A float that includes the hwy 14 bridge (dillard's ferry) is your best option. Options include Maumee to DF (1 day float), Spring Creek to DF (1/2 day)...or you can float past the bridge to Rush. The ea...
