Boat-based rescue tips

I'd like to assemble a list of boat-based rescue tips, both for the rescuer and the rescuee. Please add your expertise, I'd love to learn. Thank you! 1. If you are attempting to rescue a boat in fast current, grab the boat and give it a really strong shove and try to send it on a ferry angle toward ...

Re: WTB break down paddle

This is a message from my friend Donna, who paddled in Costa Rica earlier this year, and took an Aquabound break down paddle to use: She writed: "Yes, I broke an aquabound 4 pc fiber glass breakdown and it broke the first day (and the 1st time I ever used it). Aquabound replaced it free of charge an...

Re: Best WW boat for a 100lb 12 year old beginner?

One concern, the Jackson Villian S is a great boat- but heavy. With a wet throw rope and a water bottle it will be half of this boys' weight.

Re: Best WW boat for a 100lb 12 year old beginner?

There is an "inbetween" option: a river running playboat, such as the Fun series of boats put out by Jackson. I am not much of Jackson boat fan, but our son Conner, age 14 and 90lbs has enjoyed and done well in a Jackson 1 1/2. Conner is short, if your son is tall, maybe consider a 2Fun

Re: WTB break down paddle

Dear Tom, Hey, I've had that paddle in my boat before! A testimony to your awesome preparedness as leader and teacher of our group. I admit that I had to google "ferrules". Thanks for the great advice, as an Aqua Bound break down was a choice under consideration, which has now been eliminated. Thank...

Re: WTB break down paddle

Thanks Mgood, I actually need the paddle to kayak in Ecuador, and am unhappy about the $70 charge each way that a traditional paddle is going to cost me.
I do want hand paddles though! They are fun

Howdy, I'm in need of a break down paddle for white water kayaking. Anyone have one they'd be willing to part with?
Thanks!

Re: Dallas Standing Wave, Status?

Hey guys-- all that BDD said is correct. It's still fun, and good practice even at this level. Call me and let's go paddle! Renee- have fun FrIday night! It doesn't look we'll be coming up for Surf/Turf because the release is so short. It's hard to justify drive 4+ hours each way, when the A/C went ...
