Re: Whoop & Holler Access

I would like to thank Byrd's. Since 2004, I have really appreciated being able to park at W and H. For me, it is a great park and play place after work.

I left my fee pinned near the door on the honor system, because I valued the access !

Thanks again to Byrd's !

Re: RPM Max vs. large Pyranha Burn

Butch,,,,, you should try a rpm... if you fit through the hips it may be a better choice... also think about the redline..... same issue if you fit in the hips in the boat

Re: RPM Max vs. large Pyranha Burn

I am a great fan of the Max; I too would like to find one. I have not paddled a Burn; However, I have paddled a lot of boats for larger paddlers. If you are not interested in a play type boat, I recommend the Habitat by wavesport. Very stable, easy to roll. Front surfs well. I have been able to flat...

Re: Suger Cr. woods heads up...

thanks for posting that.. those of us that have run Sugar since June 2008 (and maybe before that) have observed this hazard. I just have not gotten around to updating the comments/hazards on the AW site for this reach about this hazard. I just did. With my departure from AR coming soon, it would be ...

Re: Venting about WW.

Summer of 2008 was a great ww season. I have never paddled Sugar creek twice in the summer.

The Tot running 5 days in August... very unusual!

I have not looked but I know that this August has to be in the top 5 for rainfall totals in the last 50 years in western AR.

Re: Nantahala or Ocoee

One question I have: guided or unguided?

If guide and if running Chattooga is a beautiful. and exciting... Ocoee in a raft may be exciting also

If unguided.. the Nanty to start with

Re: Nanty and Ocoee in late August

At least in late August and Sept the Nanty is at its warmest! The nice thing about the Nanty is that there are many putin and takeout option. For those you are a concerned about their abilities.. try a section other than traditional whole run river or Freebees to NOC runs. For a feel of the river, t...

Re: Bent-Shaft Paddles

I switched to bent shaft paddles after suffering from wrist (right) pain. If you watch your hands/wrists you will observe less rotation with the bent shat paddle. Pain usually occurred after several days of paddling in a row. I actually learned to roll with a bent shaft. I found the bend in the shaf...
