Re: canoeing with kids

We have a soon to be 6 year old and a 3.5 year old and have been reluctant to take them on any major trips yet. I have fond memories of canoeing at this age but my dad tells me it wasn't as enjoyable as I remember. We have taken our daughter canoeing and on several class 1 raft trips. Steel Creek to...

Re: Lake Atalanta spillway? Rogers

I've been mapping the lake area for work. Finally made a trip up yesterday to finish out the project and that got me jones'n. It drops about 40 feet over 600 feet to the first/only eddy above the bridge. Would be a heck of a ride I bet.

Lake Atalanta spillway? Rogers

Anyone ever run this? Looks like it would be a fun, quick slide at the right water level.

Re: ?????

Pretty sure I had a run in with the same kid several weeks ago. Sitting in the eddie below the 2nd wave, to get away from them diving in and under the top wave, dude came by and told me to share the wave. I could tell he wanted me to get confrontational with him but I resisted. The rope thing has be...

Re: trailer questions

I just keep looking at the 5' by 10' landscape trailer from Big Tex. With the higher, solid sides and larger tires I'm close to 4' off the ground out of the gate. I could add some riser bars or 2x4s for hauling two boats and keep gear contained while on the road. I'm short on room for storage so tha...

trailer questions

Is a 5' x 10' general purpose trailer or landscape trailer, think Big Tex or other run of the mill trailer, too short for hauling two canoes? These typically have a 36" tongue and a trailer centered axle, so your looking at 5 foot of boats behind the trailer, with the boats pretty much centered...

Re: shuttle info cotter area

Yeah, we did end up going with our own shuttle. Wildcat to Cotter with a release of about 3500. Caught about 20 trout over 4 hours between two people. First time rowing. We were headed back to hitchhike shuttle the following Sunday but they never turned the water on, luckily we were headed for dogpa...

shuttle info cotter area

Trying to take raft on its maiden voyage tomorrow and catch some fish. Was wondering if anyone knew of a shuttle service in the area or perhaps could work out a shuttle with someone else going. Planning to hit the road early in the a.m. and hoping they are generating some. Releases seem to be unpred...

fj40 landcruiser for raft

I've got a 74 fj40 that I've been hanging on to for years and probably will continue to hang on to for that matter. I've considered selling and buying a raft setup but thought I might could cut out the middle man. Self bailing, whitewater raft only. Email me with any serious offers and we can go fro...
