Helmets for larger heads

Good Morning All, I've been looking for a helmet and most seem to stop at XL or XXL. For those of us with larger heads, consider looking into the Gath series of helmets. While not cheap, due diligence indicates they meet both US, and European standards for safety. Below is a link to one site that ca...

Steve also indicates they would love volunteers to help increase the time the instructors have with the visitors.

He's right. They are a very good place to look into. I just got my WS Ride 115 from there. Great service, support, and attitude.

Re: Kayak options for a large person

Follow up: I went with a Wilderness Systems Ride 115 series.

10.5 ' and 500lb capacity. It handles like a dream compared to my OK.

Water Time

I'm looking for some folks who are doing some 1/2 day or day trips this weekend (8/8 or 8/9).

Specifically trips that are doable by a novice with a SOT.

Regards,
Brian

Re: Dry Suit option

For those who are larger, take a look at O.S. Systems. I've spoken with several folks across the country I know and they all give very good reviews. I'm in the process of buying mine before fall. Some manufacturers do minor customizations such as arm, leg, and sometimes torso. These can be fully cus...

Re: Looking for a good Kayak

I'd also look into a nice Wilderness Systems Ride115XMax. (didn't get the command module as I don't use fish finders and such. I just bought one Saturday and at 10.5' it is extremely stable and very maneuverable.

Re: Learning "Best Practices" for using Sit-On-Tops

TwinDad, I can see what you mean (with some help from my wife), (I come from a very intensive IT and Programming background and I always use the term "Best Practices" when referring to "how things should be done". I'm also a bit of a geek. She explained that in some things, like ...

Good Morning,

Re: Learning "Best Practices" for using Sit-On-Tops

Hi All, Thanks for the great advice, thoughts, and invitations. I will be looking into the gatherings. My current baby is a OK Prowler 13t. I had the opportunity to try a Wilderness Ride 115X and I am in the process of selling my "old and faithful" to buy that variant. The weight capacity,...

Re: Kayak options for a large person

Hi Riverrummer, Thanks for the advice! Regarding "Hopefully in all that babble above, you found something useful :)" I did indeed. Regarding Sit-In. Being very tall, rather fluffy (okay fat..call a spade a spade), and a little claustrophobic, the sit-on-top variant accommodates me well. I ...

Re: 71 yr. old Solo needs advice

This is a very good topic, and is applicable to those of us who are larger as we tend to have some of the same mobility issues. Thanks for the question and follow-ups!
